Below are my picks of the five people most likely to wind up sharing a ticket with Trump. These rankings are based on conversations with Republicans, a study of Trump's public comments about the various people in the VP mix and plain old intuition.

5. Joni Ernst

The senator from Iowa has a very bright political future ahead of her. Ernst emerged as a surprising star of the 2014 Senate class with a sterling resume (military background, time spent in state legislature, etc.) and a gift for communicating. She's well-liked by many in the party and is seen as a fresh face -- factors that should appeal to Trump. The question is whether Ernst wants to hitch her wagon -- and her political future -- to The Donald.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again.

Trump's huge momentum could be literally tipped on its ear, by none other than HIMSELF, if he picks the "WRONG" VP running mate.

I personally think Mike Huckabee would be an excellent choice.

Six months ago I would have disagreed with you.

Now.. I'm not so sure he isn't the perfect fit currently.

He's also a VERY GOOD communicator when it comes to ideas and values.

The Donald is his own man and will pick a person that can help him reach the goals he has set not only for himself but also for the country. He didn’t make 10+ billion by picking ‘good ol’ boys’ or hot broads. He made it by picking people that could do the tough jobs and do them well with minimum supervision.

You're right Don - and Trump also didn't 'do it' by choosing incompetent people with the 'right tone'... When Trump's President the concern about 'tone' and 'gravitas' will be replaced with 'is a person competent - can they get the job done'...
