Trump camp concedes it's low on money
Washington Examiner ^ | May 27, 2016 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 05/29/2016 3:08:01 AM PDT by Pinkbell

Donald Trump's campaign has alerted Senate Republicans that he won't have much money to spend fending off attacks from Hillary Clinton over the next couple months.

The notice came when Paul Manafort, Trump's senior advisor, met with a group of Senate Republican chiefs of staff for lunch last week, sources familiar with the meeting told the Washington Examiner. The admission suggests that Trump will be far more dependent on the GOP brass for money than he has led voters to believe, but it's consistent with his reliance on the Republican National Committee to provide a ground game in battleground states.

"They know that they're not going to have enough money to be on TV in June and probably most of July, until they actually accept the nomination and get RNC funds, so they plan to just use earned media to compete on the airwaves," one GOP source familiar with Manafort's comments told the Examiner.

That's a far cry from Trump's public insistence that he signed a fundraising agreement with the RNC in order to help the party, not himself. "The RNC really wanted to do it, and I want to show good spirit," he said last week. "'Cause I was very happy to continue to go along the way I was."

Still, Trump allies have suggested that the RNC is going to take advantage of the real estate mogul. "I don't think the RNC is 100 percent committed," a GOP donor told CNN. "If Donald Trump's seven points down in October, they're going to put that money toward Senate races and House races."

All this recent crap has been coming out of Paul Manafort’s mouth, not DJT’s.

Manafort must still be cashing checks from Romney also.

It seems Trump himself has refuted the story. From his twitter feed:

“Don’t believe the biased and phony media quoting people who work for my campaign. The only quote that matters is a quote from me!”

RNC is to busy propping up the RINOS up for election. NEVER GIVE TO THE RNC orgs choke them to death by defending them, give to your candidate direct. Once the primaries are over the Presidential campaign money kicks in.

Trump can finance his own campaign after all he’s a multi-billionaire, sell a few properties, cash in some bonds/stocks etc if you need to.

This is going to be the most expensive election in our history.

Trump has done more to expose worthless politicians than any other candidate in memory.

Totally agree...

Do you think Paul Ryan, Lindsey Graham and John McCain are going to get re-elected on their next round if they continue to go against Trump’s stated agenda?

Yes, maybe, maybe...

Both Linda and McStain are long overdue to see the private sector, both were losing support way before Trump arrived...good riddance to both of them.

Ryan seat ....Do you actually think his district is going to vote Ryan out as Speaker of the House...

His district voted Kasich not Trump...

Not a soul that lives outside of his district has a say-so in his election...

I sometimes wonder if people here forget how we elect our congressional representatives...

Trump has always said he’d take donations, including RNC, for the GENERAL election, just not for the primary. I’m not sure you quite understand that there are two layers of elections, the primaries and the general. Donations are defined at the FEC according to the race for which they were made, and there are limits for each.

Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. He has been short of cash compared to the rest of the candidates all campaign long.

Pray America wakes

Yet despite how crappy trump is to you, he beat your guy easily. Go figure.

Trump is crappy to me?

Sorry you are mistaking me for an anti-Trumper...

I personally liked Cruz better than Trump...for solid good reasons..

When he beat Cruz, I didn't like how he did it, though personal attacks versus policy difference...

I've always said I would vote for Trump if he was the nominee...

I listened to Trump address it the other day. He said his fundraising was for the RNC and for down-ticket races. He said that he intends to fund his part of the presidential campaign himself. That leads me to believe that he will not obstruct PACs from doing their thing, and he won’t obstruct the RNC from spending some of its money on the presidential campaign. He appeared to be saying that he would fund everything that was specifically his initiative, and that others would fund what they initiated.

That was my take on it, anyway.

hahaha...you really believe the crap MSM puts out? I can see why you are a Cruz supporter who received $34 million from just 4 ultra rich donors.

Every Billionaire who made it rich by investing has done it by using OPIUM. You think Warren Buffet was born rich?

Give it a rest. Cruz lost. Your whining serves no purpose to us here committed to beating Hillary. Call into Beck or Levin for your crybaby fix. No one cared how besieged you felt by backing loser Cruz.

This shows how stupid you are. Cruz was attacking Trump constantly with zero reference to policy, calling Trump a violent thug and potential tyrant. It was talked about heavily on this forum and even acknowledged by his former supporters. Why do you think Cruz's support went from high to nothing on this forum? Because even the most uninformed Cruzer could see what their candidate was just by simple observation.

I personally liked Cruz better than Trump...for solid good reasons..

Cruz was a pathological liar who couldn't even tell the truth about his pro-amnesty record, which he was still hinting was on the table as late as November. Only dumb people or the uninformed could support him after seeing all his lies.

I've always said I would vote for Trump if he was the nominee...

Good doggy, but we all know you're only saying it to be spared a zot.

But you’ll continue to throw out pot shots not only at Trump but his followers whenever the mainstream media throws out something against him.

This is spending as of last Sept, but it is illustrative of the Trump campaign "breaking" all the conventional rules on how to run a successful political campaign.

Actually, not silly at all. All Trump has to do is ASK his supporters and money will flow in.

Moreover, this is still more gamesmanship from Trump: “OK, I won the nomination, now pony up.”

The Donald has a plan regardless of what people think.

I know right. You would think that the man who rewrote the rules on negotiating would have something up his sleeve.
