An Army veteran from Pendleton was killed in a motorcycle crash after participating in the Rolling Thunder rally in Washington, D.C., Sunday.
Craig Vanbrunt, 66, had been part of a group that had participated in the ride earlier in the day. The group was headed westbound on I-66 around 4:13 p.m. when it approached stopped traffic near the Rosslyn Tunnel. Vanbrunt tried to stop and lost control of his motorcycle near the 74-mile marker.
Vanbrunt was wearing a helmet. He was transported to George Washington University Hospital, where he died.
The crash remains under investigation.
Gov. Mike Pence released this statement regarding the accident: “Karen and I were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Craig Vanbrunt, who served our nation in uniform and lost his life honoring our prisoners of war and service members missing in action during this year’s Rolling Thunder activities in our nations Capital.
“As Hoosiers pause this Memorial Day to remember our fallen heroes, we send our deepest condolences to the family of retired Army veteran Craig Vanbrunt, his friends and Rolling Thunder Indiana Chapter 1 on the passing of this devoted Hoosier soldier.”
Well look at *this*!

Yes, the devil had to be in this too.
Sudden traffic jams are bad news for inattentive bikers. In a cage one might get a smacked bumper. On a bike, it could kill you.
A good mnemonic: every good biker is always looking for trouble. If something unexpected appears ahead, he should have an alternative place where he plans to go.
Indeed.
Trump’s attitude and his openness in his speaking has lured many that normally would not vote for a GOPe candidate...
People are showing they have had all the “professional politicians” they can stand...People are looking for a refreshing change and they are finding one with Trump!!!
GO TRUMP!!!!!
I watch *everything*.
I don’t even pull out when the light changes until I’ve checked and rechecked the cross streets.
People have a bad habit of ‘running orange lights’, here.
The infernal plan is to hose up the grace of God.
People are weary [and leery] of flowery speeches and lawyerly linguistics.
Blunt, plain and sometimes crude is the true language of the people.
FWIW, I have *never* seen bikers go this all-in for any politician, *ever*.
Obeyme always does his best...or worst.
I used to ride until my budget forced me to sell my bike, and I’d still ride if my fortunes ever resumed enough — but rush hour really isn’t the time to do it unless there is no other choice, and then pray pray pray. Too many vehicles = too many things to go wrong.
True, that.
I avoid heavily populated areas, entirely.
That’s so true...He talks like “normal” people...:o))
Trump had a WWE side, and this put the edge on his fight.
Trump looks poised to be a good SECULAR president. The US people shouldn’t be wanting Uncle Sam to be their godfather, to set the tone for what they do in church. This is one of the most insidious ways of government, to roll out a red carpet for your religion only to yank it out from under you later once you are used to that. Donald Trump won’t do this.
McCain is the original Manchurian Candidate. He has been an enemy of the Republic since he went to DC.
When he hugged his former tormentor, Colonel Trang in DC in 1992 at the POW/MIA hearings, I knew then he was not to be trusted.
