Problem is Bob there are so many topics out there that could be picked up. Everything from Hillarys viability—fbi primary bernie, to Johnsons run in the third party to the driveby hits on Trump for his university and his supposed late pay of charity money, there is a lot going on. Tough to tell which one hie will pick.
We already know that any driveby pub/tv net that runs his name for any reason will get air time. His ego just has to go there.
He has a big contract coming up as well....
Rush’s down fall started when all he could talk about was his new wife. I turned him off and haven’t turned him back on since. Ditto goes for FNC and all that yelling back and forth where you learned 0. Hannity got on my nerves real bad.

My bet is.... golf.
loL THAT TOO.
Bullshit. He’s in trouble because before Trump he would hammer the GOPe and now that Trump is here he’s become a giant waffler and has hurt his base audience.
“Why is it always the conservative radio hosts? Why is there no report on the leftist media falling apart?”
Of course not. They are subsidized by the taxpayer and don’t have to actually have an audience or make a profit.
You are absolutely correct. The biggest cost to any station is talent and if you have numerous stations, the way to cut cost is to syndicate talent over numerous markets (Think Bob and Tom)
There were many good stations that were locally owned. The owners were hands-on, the talent was home-grown and the station actually was a factor in the community.
Unfortunately, when the FCC de-regulated ownership rules, radio evolved into what it has become today. I’ve seen station sell for 20 times book....there is no way you can make a profit when your costs are so high.
That’s what happened to Cumulus and Jacor/Clear Channel/I Heart Radio. I’ve seen the games owners play where a station flips formats and calls in a single day. The airstaff walks in the front door, are escorted to the GM’s office to give up their keys and pick up a severance check, then leave thru the back door.
But...I’d still like to be in a position to own a small/mid-market station. Rush will land on his feet. I suppose he could always go to Sirius/XM. Truth be known, however, I think he has to re-invent himself to stay relevant. His format is becoming a little tired.
But after 25 years at his pay grade...why bother?
Exactly what happened to me. Years ago I hosted a three hour morning show on a 100k FM station. The show was mostly fishing and had been on the air since the 60's,over 40 years at the time. The station was sold the clear channel. The day they took over ownership they fired all of us went to satellite and changed the format to country. I went on to broadcast on numerous other stations but you never forget it when you are clear-channeled.
There in lies the rub. My phone won't sync through blue tooth in my 2010 VW jetta.
Didn’t exactly happen to me that way. I worked for Cumulus and was one of three on an FM morning show. We were number 2 in the market and we were a top 100 market as well.
My partner was canned at lunch at a local country club. I got the news when John Dickey flew in and since I was also Ops Mgr for our AM, I got my walking papers at Wendy’s. He then wanted to know if I was still going to cover the remote (engineering) that weekend.
Doesn’t matter what big company you work for, it can be Randy Michaels or Lew Jr. all the money goes to corporate. The rest of us were bottom feeders.
