Clinton backs Israel, blasts Trump in San Diego

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Thursday gave a speech in San Diego in which she reiterated her support for Israel.

“Israel’s security is non-negotiable. They are our closest ally in the region and we have a moral obligation to defend them,” she said.

In the speech, the former Secretary of State also blasted her Republican rival Donald Trump and especially his foreign policy platform, which she described as "dangerously incoherent".

"Donald Trump's ideas are not just different, they are dangerously incoherent," she said, according to Reuters. "They're not even really ideas, just a series of bizarre rants, personal feuds and outright lies."

Clinton, the frontrunner in the race to become the Democratic presidential nominee, delivered her speech as she seeks to shift her attention to the November 8 election against likely rival Trump and away from Bernie Sanders.

Trump, the Republicans' presumptive nominee, has said he would sit down with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to try to stop Pyongyang's nuclear program and has criticized the decades-old NATO alliance with mainly European nations as obsolete and too costly for the United States.

Clinton derided these and other positions, promising she would do a better job keeping the United States.

"He says he has foreign policy experience because he ran the Miss Universe pageant in Russia," she said to loud laughter.

She also defended the nuclear accord reached between Iran and world powers, and which Trump has vowed to renegotiate if re-elected, an idea Iran has rejected.

Clinton challenged Trump to answer how he would deal with Iran in the absence of a nuclear deal and mocked the billionaire’s argument that his experience negotiating business deals would have allowed him to strike a better deal with Iran.

These are empty words, just like Obama. Hillary and Obama both use empty promises of support as a weapon to force Israel back to its 1967 borders while, at the same time, providing support to countries that have vowed to destroy Israel.

To Hillary Israel’s security is non-negotiable as long as Israel follows orders from Washington and the UN. Is that not so?

Republicans do it just as often, but we have no obligation to defend Israel. We are obligated to defend dozens (without looking about 4 dozen) nations, including several in the middle east. But Israel is not amongst them. Sorry, Hillary.

The US has never and must never defend Israel. We defend ourselves. In 1948, France and Russia was our supplier, the US neutral. In 1956, France and England were our allies and the US a diplomatic adversary. In 1967, France stopped supplying abruptly, and the US gradually began supplying us through third parties, as Russia had already been doing to Egypt and Syria for some time. In 1973, for the first time, the US became our chief supplier. But defend us? No. We defend ourselves.
