Businessman Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, has endorsed Renee Ellmers in her Congressional primary.

Ellmers faces fellow Rep. George Holding and Cary doctor Greg Brannon.

Early in-person voting is over but voters go to the polls on Tuesday to settle Congressional and state Supreme Court primaries across North Carolina.

Paleoconservative Walter Jones needs to beat Kristol’s beltway guy Taylor Griffin in another district.

I’m from North Carolina and I live in North Carolina, and I don’t endorse Renee Ellmers.

She’s pro-abortion, pro-amnesty and voted to raise the debt ceiling, despite claiming to be a conservative.

Just because I’m voting for Trump, doesn’t mean I’m going to support every one he supports in Congress.

Pathetic. Ellmers is Eric Cantor in a dress. Who’s advising this guy?

I’m sure he does, and whatever they are, I still oppose her renomination as should we all.

In Ellmers case, she is quite literally in bed with the enemy.

She’s probably less conservative than her lover, Maj Leader McCarthy. Not a person who should have ever been elected to Congress, she’s one of those jerks that used the Tea Party label.

Holding or Brannon would be much preferred. I would vote for Holding if I lived there, he has a conservative voting record, which Elmers is attacking much as a democrat would.

Good news is there are primary runoffs in NC, bad news is she only needs 40% to avoid one, not 50%.

George Holding sounds like a good conservative...
Brannon, I hear, knows the Constitution...

Trump is wrong here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Tar Heelers do as they are told again. Without Helms, NC isn’t that much politically.

Every single GOP officeholder lady except former governors, are trying to murder golden goose Donald Trump.

Ellmers is “goofy” but she is probably not as goofy as Marsha Blackburn in some of things she has said. Blackburn is neutral.

Is Trump going to get Dick Cheney’s daughter to be his friend, that’s awkward.

Every other bimbo has run trashed don. None of them know how to argue or BS the way Ellmers does either.

Ellmers is free wheeling RINO.

He needs a token leader of the GOP in office to back him I guess.

Nobodies like Nicole Mallitakis in Staten Island are trying to build brand attacking Trump.

Elmers has F rating from conservative review.

Comments from Conservative Review:

Ellmers’s liberal evolution following her election seems inexplicable. Girding herself for a recount battle after election night 2010, Ellmers turned to the National Republican Congressional Committee for help. Rebuffed by the group, Ellmers slammed the group for its failure to support her throughout her campaign (Politico). Yet two months later, Ellmers would embrace the very institution that snubbed her, cozying up to leadership and doing its bidding.

In 2010, Ellmers ran on cutting spending and dismantling Obamacare, but quickly fell in line with the GOP leadership. She voted to increase the debt limit twice and opposed the 2013 defund Obmacare effort. Ellmers heaped praise on Speaker Boehner after the debt limit increase battle of 2011, which she helped whip support for: “The speaker has given the freshman class everything we’ve asked for. I have no reason to be indifferent.” (Politico)

Ellmers even went so far as to threaten to rescind her membership in the Republican Study Committee after members accused the group’s staff of encouraging outside groups to attack members of Congress who supported the 2011 debt limit increase. (Politico)

She endorsed him a week after he won the NC primary...

Still, I guess he owed her one but it’s too bad.

Ellmers is also militantly pro-illegal immigrant, and was the alleged mistress of Kevin McCarthy.

Isn’t that exactly the kind of political-insider hanky-panky people were looking to Trump to get away from?

Ellmers is a traitor on immigration. Forget abortion, she promised one thing on amnesty and completely reversed to be in sync with Paul Ryan on the far left

Here we go again - so many “concerns and fears” from something relatively small (and having opinions on both sides and lack of other data). Might as well hope the GOPe manages to “free up” all the delegates and pray for Cruz to be the nominee....

NC won’t be having run-offs this year for any office, thanks to the stupid court decision striking down its perfectly constitutional 2012 congressional districts, which forced the state to postpone the congressional primaries. So moderate Republican Ellmers could win tbe nomination with under 40%. We need conservatives in the redrawn NC-02 (which I believe includes as many voters from Holding’s old NC-13 as from Ellmers’s old NC-02) to vote for the conservative Holding so as to defeat the moderate Elmers. Brannon, who, unlike Holding, doesn’t have a record to match his conservative talking points, isn’t going to win the nomination, so even if one were to prefer him to Holding (which I don’t) one still should vote for Holding so as to prevent a split of tbe conservative vote lyielding an Ellmers victory.

Crap yes, I forgot that, runoffs canceled this year.

Conservatives need to back Holding, yes, but good luck convincing the Brannon fan club of that. Ugh.

It would be a great shame for Elmers to win and to lose Holding, especially if this endorsement or the lack of a runoff is the difference.
