Gingrich: Trump remarks about judge 'mistake,' 'inexcusable'
Fox News ^ | June 05, 2016

Donald Trump supporter Newt Gingrich on Sunday sharply criticized the presumptive GOP presidential nominee for his racially-sensitive remarks about the judge presiding over the Trump University civil fraud case.

“It was one of the worst mistakes Trump has made. Inexcusable,” the former GOP House speaker, who has become one of Trump’s closest advisers, told “Fox News Sunday.”

Trump has argued that American-born District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, whose parents are from Mexico, is biased against him, considering Trump’s vow to build a wall along the southern U.S. border to keep out Mexicans.

“He’s Mexican,” Trump told CNN on Friday. “We’re building a wall between here and Mexico.”

Gingrich, whose is considered a potential Trump running-mate, also called the comment a “mistake” but stopped short of calling it racist.

“That judge is not a Mexican. He’s an American,” he said. “I hope it was sloppiness.”

Questioning a judge’s bias is legitimate. Thanks for the link.

"The judge belongs to a racist group called “The Race.”"

Yep, thanks, I've been tracking the story.

Trump was clumsy with his presentation on this one. Newt is pointing it out. I think Newt is running interference in a rather subtle way.

Trump and Newt play chess. The progressives use blunt force while playing checkers.

This explains why Newt couldn’t get past the primaries.

I agree with you...La Raza is the issue.

I’ve seen nothing to indicate that he’s associated with La Raza. I understand that stories of him being associated with La Raza have been refuted.

I totally agree with you, chris..Just that saying “La Raza” would’ve put that judge in his rightful place...

Gingrich should shut up.
Past his best by date.

Newt is right this time. Trump shouldn’t be drawing attention to this case in this manner. The media is enjoying this sort of BS.

Go Trump!

It’s the Judge’s association with the La Raza Lawyers Association which raises the red flag, and being a member of a group with a name like that, Mexican and La Raza are inseparable. I am in California, and certain places this Aztlan foolishness is sometimes overwhelming. Someone from Georgia like Newt may not realize what Trump was getting at. Trump has had plenty of dealings in the Southwest and is aware of the Aztlan krap.

I have basically quit watching network news because it just makes me angry. For some reason, I have caught it several times this week.

One of the networks today gave Hillary a nice free campaign commercial where she attacked Trump. Their idea of being fair and balanced was showing four different Republicans all attacking Trump. They gave zero time to Trump.

Yep, yep, I can’t argue with that.

A precise attack is effective.

The Race should not be tolerated in this country, and neither should the Black Panthers, or any other racist organization.

I’m so tired of the double standard in America, and I am even more tired of gutless Republicans enabling it.

This is precisely why Newt should be Trump's Chief of Staff to provide some balance in the new administration. For example:

"Now Donald, he isn't a Mexican, he's an American who happens to be part of, or influenced by, La Raza."

“I think Trump uses certain words purposely. Pocahontas vs Fauxcahontas Mexican vs LA Raza... many wouldn’t get it/hear/listen otherwise.”

Very good point. It wouldn’t hurt if he did throw out the facts a bit more clearly though. Especially to stop the MSM from setting the narrative against him as easily.

WE know what he is saying and what he means. I would prefer EVERYONE does.

And Newt - he just dropped the/his mask. IMO. Once an elite always an elite I guess. Too bad as he does has quite an agile mind.

Again, I agree 100%...

Can you imagine:

White Congressional Caucus
White Entertainment network
White Students Union
White Panthers

“Gingrich, whose is considered a potential Trump running-mate....”

Well, Newt can kiss that dream goodbye. All Newt had to do is talk to Trump one on one.....he damn sure didn’t need to play this out in the media.

I suspect Newt recently learned that he was not going to get the job and he decided to go full asshole in an attempt to get even and sooth his wounds.

FUNewt.
