Trump: Gingrich criticism of me 'inappropriate'
POLITICO ^ | June 6, 2016 | NICK GASS

Posted on 06/06/2016 6:42:16 AM PDT by maggief

A day after former Newt Gingrich called Donald Trump's latest comments on Judge Gonzalo Curiel "inexcusable," the presumptive Republican nominee fired back at the former House speaker, who has largely been supportive of his candidacy.

"As far as Newt is concerned, I saw Newt," Trump told "Fox & Friends" on Monday after the show played clips of Hillary Clinton and Gingrich denouncing his remarks speculating that Curiel's Mexican heritage represented a conflict of interest in the cases against Trump University over which he is presiding. "I was surprised at Newt. I thought it was inappropriate what he said."

Newt publicly talking smack of the Republican nominee.

What an idiot Newt has become.

This is why he flamed out so quickly in 1994.

The judge has allowed a case go forward with the removal of the chief complainant (plaintiff) by her attorneys for her written and oral support of Trump U. The attorneys are major contributors to the Clintons who specialize in creating class action suits. Trump’s position is that the case should have been summarily dismissed but was not based on the judge’s involvement in leftist - esp La Raza - politics.

What President has ever been free of criticism?

Bloody Hell, man! Even George Washington caught his share of FLAK.

Gingrich comments serve no purpose other than to draw attention to himself. Discretion is the better part of valor, Gingrich once again shows he lacks discretion.

The Gass article gives Curiel a tip of the hat re his Mexican ancestry. However, he doesn't say a word about Curiel being actively associated with the leftist, open border-La Conquista promoting La Raza group and the fact that Trump proposes to build a wall on the border.

Interestingly, Shillary claims Curiel is as American as she is, and from a philosophical perspective she is no doubt correct.

Trump was shown a video of Newt criticizing him and *asked* to comment on it. One of the things we like about Trump is that he listens to questions and actually responds. If he were a career politician, he could watch a video of Newt, ignore it and the question, and talk about Hillary. But if that were his MO, he wouldn’t have won the primary.

Are Gingrich’s comments his tantrum because he didn’t get the VP nod?

Look at some of the threads about Gingrich and his candidacy in 2012. For all the good he has done, he counters that by being a snake in the grass. One never knows which way he will come down on any issue.

Many also ignore that Gingrich has been a DC insider since he left the House.

Sheesh, there are too many news shows on. With 24 hour news channels and Twitter, et al, we are constantly hearing somebody’s 2¢ about everything. I miss the old days when we got our news from the nightly Huntley/Brinkly report.

It is quite possible that Newt's criticism of Trump was planned and coordinated by Trump himself. It gets Trump front and center in the media eye. It is also quite possible that Trump had Newt coordinate with McConnell and Ryan to do the same.

Trump's comment that Newt's criticism of him was "inappropriate" is awfully weak. What the hell does that even mean?

He’s attacking Judge Curiel because he already knows that he’s going to be wacked continually about Trump University during the election, just like Romney and Rubio attempted to do earlier on. (Here in Florida we had an unbelievable number of ads attacking Trump on that subject. There were about two running every single commercial break for a couple of months in my area.) He’s trying to get out front of the issue by getting the idea in people’s heads that the case is illegitimate and being handled in an unfair manner. This also (more subconsciously) reminds people of one of his strongest issues: illegal immigration/the wall.

Trump isn’t really attacking Newt. He was asked about what Newt said and just gave his opinion. I’m sure there’s not going to be war between them or anything even vaguely like it.

He has been going after Hillary hard and will continue to do so I’m sure. The press probably won’t pay as much attention to his attacks on her, though, as to these side items.

Yes, but his lieutenants knew better than to publicly air it out on the battlefield...

Unfortunately, nuance is lost in the public arena. I haven’t seen the words ‘La Raza’ or its translation used in connection with the judge.

The judge has a massive political conflict of interest with Trump, and the group that is funding the lawsuit donated to Clinton.

Were it known that a judge were a member of a prominent whites only group presiding over a case involving a black nominee for POTUS, I think the press would handle it differently.

It goes to the whole reason Trump is running.

“Newt overestimated the importance of his worth.”

Which has been his history for those of us who watched his career.

Newt wasn’t driven from the Speaker’s chair by Democrats, it was by former supporters who were fed up with his self-serving antics.

It’s not a surprise to find him joining the concern trolls in their attempt to force Trump into a PC mold.

The nets were replaying Newt’s comments over and over...

Trump values loyalty above most anything else, and Newt may just have blown himself out of the water.

Hoping for a Sessions or Duncan Hunter veep nod...

Donald really needs to start being more careful. People know he’s authentic but he’s taking it too far to the point where he’s risking losing the election before it starts.

You are a exactly correct, but the media is going full bore “nothing matters but racism” with the narrative.

This is a regrouping of their forces after seeming to accept Trump’s legitimacy. All the same people who said he doesn’t have a prayer, aside from those newly in the spotlight, are concern trolling the only thing they think matters about Trump complaining about the judge.

Minorities/Media/Dems have always criticized the integrity of an ALL WHITE Jury/Judge and our ‘wise latina’ has pretty much stated that you need to be latin to make important judgements. So what’s wrong with what Trump said? I know he meant La Raza connection....but who cares?

Trump: Gingrich criticism of me 'inappropriate'

Fox made repeated attempts to make a mountain out of a what I consider a very small molehill, but when Newtie came in to support their efforts, I thought "scratch his name off the VP list".

Ultimately, it is exceptionally hard to garner support and to actually lead in a substantive way when you have been caught with your trousers around your ankles.

“Gingrich comments serve no purpose other than to draw attention to himself. “

Which is why he made them. Always wants to be the center of attention.
