I’ve had a fear for a long time that Trump will get elected and six months later will come out of a meeting with Majority Leader Schumer and say you just can’t work with these crazy Republicans so he’s switching parties.
It wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
I think he would be much more comfortable with the big city politicians of the Democrat Party than the more rural Republicans who he’s probably never dealt a whole lot with.

I like DHJr too. I just wish he had more national visibility.

I could live with “Newt” as VEEP.
To: Yaelle
He would be a good choice for Chief of Staff or Secretary of State, though.........................

I like Newt, I think he is brilliant. But I think he is too old for VP. Trump needs a guy like him close as an advisor but in some other role, maybe a position invented just for him.
I’m not sure who should be VP, but someone who could theoretically be president after Trump leaves the field.

Methinks Newt was never under serious consideration for VP & when he realized this the slam against Trump over the judge spewed forth.

You are definitely wrong. Trump could have sat the whole election out & Jeb would have been the nominee.
Vote Trump 2016!

After Newt’s tirade against Trump over the judge issue and I imagine he is out now.

I think Newt is a terrible choice. I am in the camp of believing that the VP pick's primary job is to shore up the support the POTUS candidate cannot get on his own. Newt will be seen by the general public as some old has-been white guy. Choosing him might get Trump the FReeper vote, but not much else.
I also think the VP should be someone currently in office. Newt's been out of office for quite some time.

“Newt would be fine as a VP, at least we know hell be a pusher as a VP, unlike the one we have now who stays out of the limelight.”
Having someone who actually knows how the government works is necessary for the ticket to have any kind of chance.
