Even after a jury unanimously found him guilty of sexual assault, Stanford rapist Brock Turner refused to directly apologize to his victim or take responsibility for his actions. Instead, he blamed alcohol and the party culture at the elite Palo Alto, California university for landing him behind bars, according to a statement the 20-year-old read before a judge at his sentencing hearing last week. The statement, obtained by the Guardian and published on Wednesday, echoes the victim's concerns that Turner doesn't understand that what he did was wrong and that he needs to face up to the consequences.

speaking of recovery, the Iowa football program should file suit against Stanford as a result of accepting a bid to the Rose Bowl.

You can file suit but you can't serve or squeeze money out of a Tree

This is so crazy. He’s a victim of a culture there.

So, because of that, he’s not responsible for his actions???

What are we saying?

Because of that culture he had no choice, but to find a woman in distress and pull down her pants??????

Unbelievable!

I truly enjoyed my "college experience", which I attribute to graduating with a GPA a sliver before 3.0. Made it tougher 20 years after graduation when compared to younger folks that benefitted from grade inflation. So be it, I admit I partied too much during my sophomore and junior years.

Binge drinking and drinking until you passed out aren't things that I can recall, not to the extent we see today.

Twenty minutes of ‘activity’

That's 'Twenty minutes of action'. As in "He got some action at the Frat party". See definition 1 for action in the Urban Dictionary.

Wow, impressive how quickly that pic of the father with Sen. Graham got scrubbed from the internet.

It turns out that most but not all of these frat rape stories are fabricated.

The rapist is going to do minimal time. There are others who have done far lesser crimes doing much longer sentences.

Only thing left is this blurb from Heavy.com

“A photo from Carleen’s now-deleted Facebook page from June 2015 shows Dan Turner with Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.”

The rapist seems to think he got a worse deal than his victim. Personally, I wish she’d had a knife and had woken up long enough to use it.

Stanford University is located in Stanford, California. Has its own zip code 94305. Adjacent to Palo Alto.

Sounds like an Obama speech... Or any statement uttered by a Democrat these days.

I don’t blame him - works for them and you know the victim and all these hand wringers support the violence against Trump supporters.

“Twenty minutes of ‘activity’.”

Worse yet, he said “action”.

Stanford is a party school, and going there ruined his life?

I hadn’t heard that one before.

In this case 2 passers-by came upon him raping an unconscious female. He attempted to flee upon which he was tackled. Hospital confirmed assault had transpired. Hard to “fabricate” that.

Not this one from the evidence that has been published. Two other students stopped the rape in progress, detained the perpetrator, and held him until the police arrived.

In this instance the story wasn't fabricated, although it may be hard to believe somebody could act with as much malice and callousness as Brock Turner did.

See this article for the details

That little son of a bitch will be heard from again. The next girl he is involved with will die a slow horrible death from his hands. But it is nice to be politically connected.

“he blamed alcohol and the party culture “

Unlike others here who judge so harshly, I completely sympathize with this poor creature, as I’m sure he was repeatedly forced at gunpoint, along with threats to his loved ones, to guzzle hundreds of gallons of beer and booze at wicked parties for years, instead of engaging in the studying he so truly desired.

It is true, that culture promotes it heavily. No excuse but it’s true. It’s cool to dress like a ho, sleep around, drink until you pass out. . . God have mercy. Young men are taught through tons of porn that the girls actually like it and when they dress so and pass out drunk for easy pickin’s it is easy to convince yourself so.

Does not make it right. But cultural values bear fruit.
