Joe Biden pens open letter to Stanford rape victim

Washington (CNN)Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday he is "filled with furious anger" over a case that has attracted widespread attention after a judge handed down a six-month sentence to the attacker.

"I am filled with furious anger — both that this happened to you and that our culture is still so broken that you were ever put in the position of defending your own worth," he wrote in a letter published on Buzzfeed.\

"It must have been wrenching — to relive what he did to you all over again," Biden added. "But you did it anyway, in the hope that your strength might prevent this crime from happening to someone else. Your bravery is breathtaking."

Outrage has erupted over a California judge's decision to give Brock Turner, a former Stanford University swimmer, a six-month jail sentence for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in January 2015. Prosecutors had asked that Turner be sentenced to six years in prison, and critics are blasting the decision as too lenient.

Joe Biden jumps on a bandwagon. He doesn’t give a damn about victims. Not one.

I tried to make that point yesterday. It didn’t go over well with some people.

Isn’t Joe Biden calling the judge stupid? I don’t suppose the media will have the same reaction . . .

He’s probably trying to win over her heart so he can get her alone next to a dumpster.

Slow Joe is so overcome with himself that he thinks no one pays attention to his "innocent" touches...

...

Has he written any letters to the rape victims in Germany due to the Muslim invasion?

The logic is very simple. She drank to excess but that did not give him license to drag her behind a dumpster, partially disrobe her, cram his hand in her, and then start mounting her until two strangers happened by. (He tried to run when caught emphasizing that he knew it was rape.)

What do you think the woman should be held responsible for?

Is that the court testimony of what occurred?

I've read several news stories which contained partial testimony from the trial, but I have not seen any direct testimony that describes how she got outside behind the frat house. I am pretty sure there was not testimony that she passed out inside the party.

Just hoping you can fill in some of the gaps of what I've read.

There is no doubt that Turner was in the wrong, but what amazingly poor judgement on everyone’s part. She was two times the legal limit and he was three. Neither had their faculties intact. Sadly, this is what becomes of such adventures.

I remember, while in the Marine Corps, listening to the stories of Marines coming back from liberty; some had been robbed, beaten, stabbed, contracted an STD, or worse. I liked going and seeing the sights. It slowly occurred to me that people are seldom shot at the art museum, the Parthenon, and other cultural sites. However, drunken parties, strip clubs, red light districts are rife with such tales of woe. Both these young people made some very poor choices, much like the people who vote for Biden.

I would think that going to town on an unresponsive body would violate the code of gentlemanly conduct, at least, even if she had given consent, verbally or physically, beforehand.

Not sure where I can locate the code of ladies' conduct anywhere, anymore. Perhaps it's been misplaced?

Regardless, a male would be well advised to have with him a calibrated and state certified Breatholyzer when it comes to decision time. Or better yet, stay home and study.

Why does the publicizing of Joe's letter to the rape victim remind me of the picture of Moochie holding up the sign ‘Bring Back Our Girls’? Opportunists, both of them. Trying to insinuate themselves into current stories to appear relevant. Move along, nothing to see here but immature, self-aggrandizing Democrats.

Liberals are soooo selective in their weepy concern.... has anyone ever seen Video or Obozo or Hillary writing anguished “open letters” to any of the vast numbers of victims of “Obama’s sons”??? I didn’t think so. How about open letters to all of Bill Clinton’s victims???? No, I didn’t think so.

I believe it was the other way around - she was three times the legal driving limit, and he was twice.

And agreed about the poor judgment. If you drink to the point that you can no longer take care of yourself and defend yourself, then you are opening the door to trouble, particularly when you’re around similarly intoxicated people, whom you don’t really know. I posted the effects of intoxication at different BAC levels. At her level, more than 0.24, she was well past the point where she might choke on her own vomit, have accidents, and become unresponsive. While what she did wasn’t criminally wrong, it makes no sense to say she didn’t do anything wrong. Some things that are legal aren’t the wisest thing to do, and even if you don’t get punished for breaking the law, you may suffer consequences for doing them.
