CARACAS, VENEZUELA – Venezuela’s most recent initiative to deal with the widespread food shortages? Some 9,000 “committees” across the country made up of government loyalists are now directly handling the distribution of whatever groceries are still available.
Under the new provision, the selected members of the committees (known as CLAP for its Spanish acronym) are authorized to take truckloads of some food products from supermarkets, warehouses or state-run companies and distribute them directly to families – which have previously been “surveyed” by such committees.

That’s because you aren’t thinking like a socialist.
Party loyalists will distribute the food to “reliable”
social elements. Those not loyal...will starve.
So they accomplish the agenda, the opposition is
reduced, the party remains in control, and un-allied
citizens get the message.
Socialism, so simple a moron could do it,
and usually that’s the case.
Venezuela is “Atlas Shrugged” in the real world.
It’s called “rationing”. At some point every command-and-control economy must resort to using it. There will ALWAYS be scarcities, even in times of plenty, which are few enough in any command-and-control economic system, that does not rely on market forces to balance supply with demand.
This is the reason for the second amendment. We can solve this kind of problem long before it comes to this here. They have to beg for food.

1. Gain power by promising free stuff (and maybe add a little violence)
2. Redistribution - underpay the productive and overpay the unproductive
3. Production falls, prices rise
4. Implement price controls to fight inflation
5. Shortages become more serious
6. Government enters cycle of more and more dictatorial control and violence, diverting remaining resources to hardcore supporters
7. Revolution
8. Repeat - because people believe you can get something for nothing.
Food doesn’t just happen.
Making production of food illegal doesn’t help.
And rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic didn’t help either.
This can’t be happening or it would be in the news. If you Google “Venezuela,” the first story is about Venezuela’s fabulous 1-0 victory over Uruguay in the Copa America soccer championships.
If you think it can’t happen here, just replace “food” with “medical care” and you have Obamacare.
