A solo hiker who falls off a cliff i front of his companions can be rescued by them. One who is roped to them can hold them up (the point of being roped together).
And you are right, my examples are too soft. Any westerner — especially women — who goes to a muslim country is like a white guy going alone to Harlem or South Central with dollar bills hanging out of his pockets and a “#BlackLivesSuck” T-Shirt.
