This was one of the deciding factors for me along with the fact that I did not want a politician, establishment or not. Emailed my support for Trump early on to family and friends, a few of which I have not heard from since. Just kidding, but a few were quite unhappy with my choice.......

I was with him from day one. He had me at the escalator ride down....seriously, he had me with this announcement speech.

I remembered listening to him talking with Rush, back in 2012, and thinking “this is the guy who should be running for Prez”.

I was three streets away when the announcement was made (I work on Lexington Ave). I wish I had the foresight to have been there as Trump Tower is no more than a 10 minute walk from my office and I'm sure I would have gotten into the lobby.

The announcement surprised me because even though Trump had been talking about it, I did not think he would actually run with so many others already in the race.

Trump did make something of a run for the GOP nomination in the lead-in to 2012. I don’t have time, but it would be fun to review the FR comments from that run in early 2011.

I just knew it would be Hillary! vs Jeb! this fall, and I would simply not vote for either of these dips.

Your story sounds like mine. I initially leaned toward Cruz but frankly liked any over Hill. One by one I eliminated them AND Trump eliminated them. Liked his no nonsense alpha appeal. Sick of loquacious statesmen
