A seriously sissified shooting story
American Thinker ^ | June 15, 2016 | Russ Vaughn

Posted on 06/15/2016 6:17:50 AM PDT by detective

I'm an old guy who grew up playing rough-and-tumble from an early age, fighting when necessary to maintain my place in the upper-middle of the testosterone-fueled hierarchy in my small southern town, a kid who couldn't wait to get his first gun and go hunting and was later equally eager to learn the professional use of many lethal military weapons in combat against a deadly enemy. So it's really difficult for me to believe that any man could publicly and apparently proudly proclaim himself to be such a totally emasculated milquetoast, and an ill-informed one at that, as New York Daily News reporter Gersh Kuntzmann has done with this error-filled hit piece on the AR-15 rifle – which was, of course, timed to take advantage of the atrocity in Orlando.

If Kuntzmann has masochistic tendencies, then today he must be basking resplendently in the utter contempt and ridicule being directed his way from millions of American gun owners who read his article, opening with this sentence: "It feels like a bazooka – and sounds like a cannon," about a lightweight sporting rifle that is so easy to handle that it is popular enough with teenage female shooters to be manufactured in hot pink Barbie versions. But an admittedly "terrified" Kuntzmann goes on to proudly parade his ignorance by inferring that such a weapon can fire a forty-round "clip" in less than five seconds.

All americans must realize, the gun control issue is not about saving lives, it is about enslaving a nation.

Even in semi-automatic mode, it is very simple to squeeze off two dozen rounds before you even know what has happened. In fully automatic mode, it doesn’t take any imagination to see dozens of bodies falling in front of your barrel.

The author is a complete phony. I doubt he fired or has even held an "AR-15 type weapons." He certainly doesn't realize that an AR-15 doesn't have a "fully automatic mode". I wonder what he things the difference between just Automatic and Fully Automatic might be?

Never seen it stated so simply in so few words!

Semi-Automatic. One shot per trigger pull.

I strongly approve of calling the journalist a sissy, but I don’t like calling him a girl or even girly/girlish.

My daughters would be disgusted at the slam against their sex. My wife is much tougher than the guy who claims to have been bruised by an AR-15. My mother is under 5’ tall and getting old, but she could still fire an AR-15 without any problem. The guy is just pathetic, and very few girls over age three are anywhere near that pathetic.

... hot pink Barbie versions.

And "Hello Kitty".

You'd be well-advised not to piss-off Miz Annie.

As others have put it - Gun Control is not about guns; it’s about control.

This story is complete fiction - he just made it up. Anyone who has actually fired an AR rifle (or any 5.56/.223 rifle) could see this immediately.

My thoughts exactly. AR-15 is nice and light. A typical shotgun is more closely related to a bazooka. The joy of firing the weapon is it has a VERY manageable recoil and follow up target acquisition is less demanding. Smell of sulfur? I don't think this heathen knows what sulfur smells like. He might think it's loud, but most guns seem loud when firing at an indoor range. I always get a kick at the looks I get when I fire my .357 snubby. BIG BOOM in tiny gun. Now you want to talk about some recoil?

And what panty-waste gun store owner did he talk into that tripe? Did the store owner explain how many bullets the "clip" held? Did he make sure the weapon select fire was not on "Full Auto"? Did he load it with black powder for him? The store owner should be embarrassed that someone came into his store, fired a weapon and published an article that suggests his customer was not competent to be shooting on his range, especially if there were other customers sharing space with him. It's a life and death safety issue when that level of stupidity is introduced to guns.

Anyone have an e-mail address for that reporter? On second thought, don't point out his mistakes. Let him go on being ignorant so as to advertise his lack of intelligence for future unsuspecting readers.

This girl would gladly spend a few hours firing an AR. And I wouldn’t be whining about how scary it was afterward

How can one pull a trigger 24 times before they even know what happened? What a maroon!

I know. He doesn't. That's the point.

"I always get a kick at the looks I get when I fire my .357 snubby. BIG BOOM in tiny gun."

LOL. And the recoil from that weapon is three times what an AR-15 has. Or more. I've got a Ruger LCR .357 snubby and I don't like to fire more than 6 rounds of .357 out of it when I go to the range. I can shoot a AR-15 all day long. But you are right - the whole range looks your way when you shoot that snubby because it's so loud. I also like the way the flames shoot out the barrel and from around the cylinder.

Spot on. It's not a fun gun to shoot. Mine is a hammerless, SS Taurus. It's my primary carry weapon. It's reliable and rugged. Whenever I let someone else fire .357 through it, I always caution them on thumb placement, primarily because of that flash from the wheel. Whenever I go to the range, I put at least 10 rounds of .357 through it to stay sharp. Beyond that it gets uncomfortable. The only fun part about it is when it draws attention from others at the range. "You want to shoot it?" "Naw. I'll pass." - LOL

Mrs. BCC doesn’t enjoy shooting, so she shoots one round and hits what she’s aiming at. It’s amazing. I’ve NEVER seen her miss. I wish she enjoyed shooting and would go shooting and hunting with me but it is not to be.

She did comment on the recoil of our Remington 870 12ga she had to fire TWO rounds to win the annual “turkey shoot” with our church group. All the other ladies pressured her to compete. She had never touched the shotgun before and I let another of the husbands coach her before she shot. She fired one shot, though allowed 10 shots, to be in the lead of the lady’s competition and handed it over to me. Only after another lady hit one out of her 10 shots did the Missus shoot once again, and of course, clinched.

She’s deadly, I’m telling you.

When you carry do you have it loaded with .357? I usually go with .38+P because I think I can make quicker, more accurate, follow up shots with that caliber.
