Sen. Toomey and Bloomberg discussing gun-control measure to close the terror gap
Washington Post ^ | June 15, 2016 | Karoun Demirjian

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) is working with former New York mayor and vocal gun-control advocate Michael Bloomberg’s organization to attempt to come up with a measure to keep terrorists from acquiring guns.

A spokeswoman from Bloomberg’s organization, Everytown for Gun Safety, said Wednesday that the group was “working with Toomey’s office on the terror gap,” referring to a quirk in the laws that makes it legal for people on the government’s terrorist watch lists to purchase firearms.

Toomey’s office would not comment Wednesday. It’s unclear if the effort will result in the actual drafting of a bill or is a discussion that may not result in a concrete proposal.

But in the wake of the Orlando shooting, there are some signs that the tide is shifting among Republicans toward banning those on the terrorist watch list — which included some 800,000 people as of September 2014 — from purchasing firearms. The Orlando shooter, 29-year-old Omar Mateen, was on a terrorist watch list until 2014, when he was removed for not posing a credible threat.

Toomey goes over to the dark side. Along with McConnell, Portman, Collins, McCain, Kirk and Graham

Toomey’s been on the dark side. The geek is making friends who will help him bypass the voters, creep.

How about we get to the crux of the issue. It is NOT the guns dumbasses. It’s the moose limbs.

Toomey goes over to the dark side

That happened a long time ago. Look up his prior conspiracy with Joe Manchin ...

Terrorists shouldn't have guns?

What a novel idea....except we can't profile them according to Obama...

These pyles have know about this loophole for some time. It has come to the floor at least once. Obama has known about this since he has been prez. They waited until they could have a chance to use it, now it will go thru. Pyles.

This is WHY Toomey is going down in PA.

This is a HUGE 2A state. Voters have never forgiven him for the attempted Manchin sellout, and now he goes and does it again just before the election.

Sadly he’ll be replaced by Katie McGinty, a corrupt feminist hag enviro-whack.

Manchin isn’t even close to Bloomberg’s evil.

If he thinks this will make the Phila and Pittsburg Liberal rags love him he is sadly mistaken

He is going the way of Santorum

What a great choice we here in PA get this November for U.S. Senate — this spineless pantywaist RINO or some dyke who wants to be Lizzie Warren 2.0 (without the phony Injun act).

Toomey’s behind in the polls and figures that lurching even further to the left is the only thing that can save him. At this rate he’ll be lucky to break 40% no matter how unattractive the other option is. There’s not even a conservative third party candidate in the race who could be used as a protest vote in case a good patriotic citizen wants to vote their conscience.

There are overreacting and rushing toward Stalinism and Fascism thinking they can actually save anyone, and they can’t.

The Government cannot protect you from Terrorism and never will. We can continue to surrender our rights in the name of false security till we totally accede to a total Police State with neighbor’s spying on each other, people being out on secret lists, secret courts making decisions, etc. and etc.. We might as well totally Suspend the Constitution as Lincoln did during the Civil War and give up. Then when we are disarmed, tattooed, chip implanted and totally controlled and yet the attacks continue then what. You see at that point the Terrorists have totally won, and we will be a Muslim State to boot.

Manchin isn’t even close to Bloomberg’s evil.

Manchin is still the dark side. Conspiring to violate our 2A rights in small ways with Manchin is just prelude to conspiring to violate our 2A rights in big ways with Bloomberg.

Ban Bloomberg’s bodyguards from carrying guns, and the Capitol police.

a measure to keep terrorists from acquiring guns.

How about keeping them out of the USA altogether? Then the gun issue is irrelevant.

Problem is with who, McGinnty???
Goes to show what a heap of trouble we’re in as a country, let alone PA.
Decided I wouldn’t give this guy one red cent over his love affair with WV Joe Manchin(sp?) last time around the gun grab attempt.
Had high hope for this guy, sadly disappointed. PA is a tough state for a statewide R to survive in, let alone one who might lawn conservative!!!!
