Top conservatives meet at secret dinner to discuss Cruz's future
The Hill ^ | 6/15/2016 | Jonathan Swan

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) attended a confidential dinner with more than 20 top conservatives on Tuesday night to plan his comeback as a movement leader in the mold of Ronald Reagan.

The dinner was at the Virginia home of conservative activist Brent Bozell, and the agenda was to plot Cruz’s future and the future of the conservative movement. The undertone of the dinner was about how to position Cruz for a future tilt at the presidency and to spearhead the conservative movement from his seat in the Senate, those in attendance said.

Dining with Cruz and his chief of staff, Paul Teller, were some of the most powerful figures in the conservative movement.

The spectrum of economic, national security and social conservatives seated at the table included Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint, Club for Growth President David McIntosh, direct-mail guru Richard Viguerie, National Rifle Association board member and former Cincinnati Mayor Ken Blackwell, and Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, sources confirmed.

According to those in attendance, the leaders discussed how they could work more effectively together and how to harness their vast financial and human networks in the service of conservative principles and Cruz's career.

Combined, those at the table have access to hundreds of millions of dollars and some of the largest ground armies on the right.

There was no specific discussion of electoral politics or whether Cruz will support presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump this cycle.

Many of the leaders at the dinner want Cruz to run for president again, and they are viewing Cruz’s unsuccessful 2016 run as similar to Reagan’s failed attempt in 1976 to unseat the incumbent Republican president, Gerald Ford.

Cruz is an Adult Child of Alcoholics. For people who know little or nothing about the psychological dynamics at work in adults raised in such an environment, ignorance really is bliss. They posit a well rounded, well balanced, socially/psychologically/emotionally well adjusted person has emerged from the witch’s brew of damaging factors the child endured. In real life It doesn’t happen that way.

In Ted’s case, he was abandoned at a vulnerable age, then reunited with a man who said he’d found Jesus, but who centered his life on a bizarrely unChristian doctrine and who practiced polygamy. [I’m not doing your vetting for you on this, but if you doubt it check on the divorce dates of both Rafael Sr’s wives. The dates are public record, and incompatible with anything other than polygamy.]

An ethically perverse, theologically wacko father doesn’t raise the kind of son you’ve created in your mind. He raises the kind of son so many people have recognized in Cruz. Ted plays loose with facts, history and truth. He publicly cloaks himself in evangelical claims while devising the kinds of lies against Trump that would make an atheist blush. He looks you in the eye and says that when he told his most faithful and devoted fans/followers that he supports mass legalization of ‘undocumented immigrants,’ he was merely lying.

In short, he’s exactly the person an alcohol-dominated family would produce. Ask anyone with first-hand experience of Adult Children of Alcoholics whether what I’ve stated is true. People whose lives have not been touched by this scourge see Cruz as a well adjusted, psychologically upstanding individual. People intimately familiar with Adult Children of Alcoholics saw through the act a long, long time ago.

Thanks. When it comes to Adult Children of Alcoholics, it’s all but impossible to grasp the issues without first-hand experience. Sadly, it seems like something that has to be lived to be understood. [I don’t mean a person has to be an ACoA. That would be counterproductive. I mean a person’s life must be impacted directly before the truth really sinks in.]

>>here is no end to the list of people who must be trashed in order to uphold Donald Trump. Ted Cruz now stands at the head of the list just ahead of former Senator DeMent. The trashing never ends even when Trump bots are given no fresh occasion to vent their bottomless well of venom.
If Trump loses, the same Trump bots on this thread who traduced Ted Cruz will be rummaging around for a new man on horseback to represent them. They will redefine conservatism once again and stand it on its head to make it into something it never was in order to rationalize support of the next charismatic figure.
************************************************************

Weren’t you recently told to take your sanctimonious Trump and Trump-supporter bashing elsewhere? Yet here you are, back again, on Jim’s site, doing the SAME thing.

Those who continue to insult Mr. Trump and his supporters aid and abet the ENEMIES of our Free Republic. Jim has repeatedly told you, TAKE IT ELSEWHERE.

And, btw, Cruz Sr was and is a confirmed friend and co-worker of Lee Harvey Oswald and Lee’s girlfriend (1961-1963) Judith Baker. She has confirmed to Roger Stone (don’t even think about dissing him here) that they were all hung out together. Lee and Cruz Sr worked for the CIA together, AND, she even revealed that they had a nickname for him = “Raffie”. IMO, “Poppy” pulled the plug on Cruz’s active campaigning because the trail was getting too hot for his comfort.

I agree with you. The rabidness of the Trump haters is getting very old, very quickly.

Thank you, Stephen.

I just don’t understand why any Trump supporter should have to come on to a 100% Trump site and read about how their candidate is not conservative, and read posts that refer to DJT’s supporters as “Trump bots”.

Trump’s overall positions are solidly to the right of Reagan.

I should know, I worked for Reagan twice.

Wow, what an honor. I am in awe!

Yes, DJT’s positions are very conservative, more than any candidate that I can remember. I suspect he is even MORE conservative than what he has thus far revealed.

If he makes it to the Oval Office, conservatives are going to be “WOW”-ed by his swift corrective actions to restore our Free Republic. And that will be an answer to the prayers of countless, genuine Christians!

Thanks, Stephen.

Traducing Ted Cruz for no reason

Isn't that what Amanda Carpenter was trying to do to Ted?

On a trapeze, right?

It’s actually people like you and Jeb Bush and many others who have redefined what a conservative is, just think Mitt Romney says he’s a conservative, as does Jeb Bush, George Bush, Linsay Graham, Karl Rove, Dana on the Five, Glenn Beck, and no doubt you are a conservative just like them.

Here you go again.

I would not blame Ted Cruz for an instant if he declines to publicly support Donald Trump if Trump fails to apologize because every such commitment to support the nominee carries with it an implied condition that the nominee behave within civilized norms.

Your excuses for Ted not honoring his pledge to unite would be pathetic no matter what, but claiming the high ground for Cruz after he:

1. Lied about Ben Carson in Iowa.
2. Blamed Trump for the violence of the very violent agitators in Chicago.
3. Then he took money from and allied with the very people he claimed to be against all these years in order to win.
4. He makes a pact with Kasich to do a last minute desperation bid to prevent Trump from getting the amount of votes on the first ballot, then denies he ever made the pact.

And you wonder why the man is disliked?

If he doesn't come to his senses soon, he will have destroyed his own career and won't be able to be elected dog catcher. If he doesn't try his best to undo his own damage to the party and unify to beat the Hildabeast, he will be the most hated conservative office holder EVER. By conservatives. And deservedly so.

You just recapped why Cruz is a fraud. Of course, one has to have a brain to see it......right Nathan ?

He’s gone. Banned. Guy had no impulse control. For a guy who always argued from the moral high-ground it’s pitiful he never showed any respect for the management here....who just let him back after asking him to stop his abuse of the forum.

Nathan still hasn't apologized for his very wrong, and seriously stupid, arguments months ago that Trump would lose in a landslide because he polled so poorly against the Hildabeast in the early winter.

Nathan has unfortunately lost his mental capacity over Trump's win. I hope he finds his marbles soon.

Me? I am thrilled to have him as our nominee. He's the best candidate put forth by the GOP since Reagan.

Best.
Election.
Ever.

Gone again?

Sheesh, the bitterness of the Cruzers (as opposed to Cruz supporters) and their continuing condescension is beyond me.

May he find sanity again......

The delusion that sets in with some of these Cruz people reminds me of those Japanese soldiers we used to find in the 1960s still hiding on those Pacific Islands that think WW 2 is still going on.

His moral preening & lectures were tedious & mind-numbing as was his lack of respect for the people who host this site & have allowed him to post here for many years....in the end he showed no class.

Hooray! Another ding-dong, the witch is dead moment. The Cruzlims are as detestable as Lying Ted himself and maniacal in their worship of such an extremely flawed and fraudulent excuse for even a politician and lawyer.
To think, people once thought he was USSC material before he took on this election year challenge. He failed miserably as a person and a human being which is why his aspirations for any offices beyond the State of Texas are laughable.
He’ll forever be LYING TED Cruz.
