Donald Trump — already the bane of many establishment Republicans — is now in a new battle with the GOP rank-and-file over gun control measures.
The Washington Post reports that Trump's surprise call for congressional action on new gun-control legislation is getting the cold shoulder from his party and likely pit GOP lawmakers against their presumptive presidential nominee.
The new wrinkle comes as Capitol Hill tries to cope with calls for new gun laws in the wake of Sunday's attack in Orlando, in which a gunman with terrorist allegiances killed 49 people and injured 53 at a crowded nightclub.
Sen. Jeff Sessions, an Alabama Republican and Trump supporter, told The Post: "There's nothing wrong with [Trump] trying to energize the discussion on it and work out something that would be healthy and that we can all agree on."

Because he is accepting the re-framing of the argument from Islamic Jihad, to gun control, just like the Democrats want. And his followers refuse to believe Trump's own words, even though I provided a direct link to Trump's own words.
What would you call a Trump supporter, who refuses to believe Trump's own words, even when given a direct link to them? Smart? Dumb? In denial? What?

Good lord. I didn't vote for Obama, and I didn't vote for Cruz. Go back and read Trump's own words, and read the NRA's response. No one put those words in Trump's mouth, or Twitter feed. Trump did. I have to say that looking at what Trump says and what the NRA says I am not seeing a lot of airspace or what the fuss you are trying to make is all about.

As you are conveniently pretending not to remember, Trump suggested that perhaps everyone can agree on not to permit gun sales to those on the government terror watch list. That is why he wanted to meet with the NRA to discuss that. I thought Trump was a leader. I guess not.
