The second most fearsome weapon of mass destruction is human dishonesty.

Liberals have cornered the market on both.

They may need to be removed from this planet for the safety of everyone else.

"...Standing near Greenland's Jakobshavn glacier, the reputed source of the iceberg that sank the Titanic over a century ago..."

So this very same glacier has been dropping icebergs in the drink for over a hundred years huh?

What were the dirty, rotten, no good human beings doing that lng ago that was destroying the icecap?

Great grsphic. You mean there was sea level rise in the 1800s, equal to what we have now? How is that possible? The environmentalists say that this is caused by fossil fuels since 1970.

Let’s see - at 2.5 mm/year, that’s 1 inch every 10 years. By 2100 we could have 8.5 inches of sea level rise. Maybe I should buy some future coastal property in Arizona.

When glaciers calve, they are growing, not melting.

The fear sounds like it is about ice melting on land and flowing as water to the oceans.

as I understand.....the weight of the glacier on the earth bed rock surface causes the ice to melt at the bottom where in contact forcing instability, resulting in breakage

Meanwhile the Antarctic has a new record low temperature of -112 degrees Fahrenheit or -82 C. There is no ice in the arctic, Al Gore told us that years ago.

As the article points out, icebergs are created from glaciers, which are land ice.

And where did the land ice come from? Water that evaporated from the oceans and was deposited by snow/ice storms, yes?

So, overall, it would seem that the process leads to dynamic equilibrium, with no real net change in the quantity of water in the ocean.

For years, my main source for sea ice data has been the University of Illinois-Urbana website. But, by their own admission, the satellite providing their data has been screwed-up for more than two months. But prior to that, world-wide sea-ice levels were hovering slightly below, but near, the 40-year average. For most of the past two years, they were ABOVE the 40-year average.

I think you are speaking of inland glaciers, not polar coastal glaciers.

All polar glaciers are growing, and as they overhang the ocean, they must calve when they reach out so far that the moment exceeds the tensile strength of the ice.
