Supreme Court may take action on state assault weapon bans

The U.S. Supreme Court may weigh in this week on gun control, an issue smoldering again following the June 12 Orlando massacre, with the justices due to decide whether to hear a challenge by gun rights advocates to assault weapon bans in two states.

The Connecticut and New York laws prohibit semiautomatic weapons like the one used by the gunman who fatally shot 49 people at a gay night club in Orlando in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

The Supreme Court will announce as soon as Monday whether it will hear the challenge brought by gun rights groups and individual firearms owners asserting that the laws violate the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment guarantee of the right to bear arms.

Statistics don't matter. We all know that. 300+ millions population. 300+ million firearms. 32,000(?) gun deaths. More than half suicides. Boil down the numbers and we’re lookin’ statistically at something like what, 0.0001% chance you’ll die from a gunshot. Break it down even more for death by AR and the percentage is almost invisible. But, the libs care not one whit about that. If it goes BANG! and it's loud, it's bad. And, someone could put their eye out.

Does it matter if the Supreme Court hears it? It would be a 4 to 4 decision.

It’s sad how the Supreme Court can’t understand the plain words of the 2nd Amendment but can make rights like abortion and gay marriage on flimsy to no constitutional law.

"Massacre"?
September 11, 2001 was a massacre.

3000 Americans were killed for just being Americans. Let's get our numbers straight.

There is no such thing as an "ASSAULT WEAPON".

The term is the creation of hysterical anti-gun folks.

Amazing, isn't it?
Only .5% - 1.5% of the ENTIRE population considers itself homo/bisexual yet we bleed for this sinful, aberrant minority who CHOSE this sinful, aberrant lifestyle. It IS a choice.

Satan hard at work with his minions.

The judicial branch will rule whichever way the executive branch orders them.

How many times must it be said that a semi automatic rifle is NOT an “assault weapon”????

The only difference between an AR-15 and a Remington 7400 hunting rifle is appearance....

I invite Elena Kagan to waddle to my house to demand the voluntary surrender of firearms.

I didn't see it in this article, but I think I read where the lower court ruled against the 2nd Amendment, so a 4-4 decision would let that stand.

How much more attention would there have been if they were all glbts? Any ban on assault planes? Sorry glbt folks, it’s not just about you. And it has NOTHING to do with the second amendment. Well maybe in the sense that everybody except the shooters rights were being infringed.

Bathtubs are the big number killers.

But they don’t make loud noises, so they don’t end up on ban lists.

Wait til the muslims figure out how to do mass slayings with bathtubs.

Has anyone heard when their decisions are coming out? It should be before the end of the month. I haven’t heard or read a thing about it. I think most cases were decided long before Scalia’s death and just not to be announced until June. With everything that’s taken up our time and minds since they went back to work last October, I don’t even remember what decisions we’re waiting for. AHHHH! The great distractions. They can distract us all they want but we will never be distracted from what is becoming of our country!

I just created a post about how important this election is for the next Supreme Court justice. I can’t believe Trump’s not brought this up yet! Democrats and their policies need to be held to account for repeat offenders who are not punished properly. How many deaths is that responsible for and they don’t all involve guns. About time this is addressed since Democrats want to blame Republicans for gun violence.

A Remington 7400 is far deadlier than an AR15 IMO. You probably aren’t going to be wounded if you get hit by a FMJ 30/06 slug coming out of the Remington 7400. What’s more, that slug isn’t going to stop after it hits you unlike the 5.56 mm round used in the AR15. Each one is going to go through 4 or 5 people. Possibly more. If Matten had used such a weapon in that bar, I don’t think there would have been very many wounded patrons.

They might want to ban buildings over 5 stories high.

steel cages

swimming pools

and Nitric acid.

Yeah, it depends on what caliber you are using...The 7400 can be bought in .223 caliber (same as an AR-15) but it can also be bought is 7mm Mag which is mighty powerful...

The glbt group are a sad lot. The more they screech and scream about their "rights" the sadder they seem. They will never be "normal." Their obstinate refusal to follow God's Word puts them at odds with our good Lord. How sad is that?

The Catholic Church will CONTINUE to call their ho/bimosexual choice a SIN. The Orthodox and many Protestant denominations will continue THEIR same view as the Catholic view. How can it be anything else? Just because some behavior is now "legal" does NOT make it morally right.

Calling a sin anything other than a sin is SATAN's way.
