At 5 y.o. I came home crying because the big kid down the street hit me . Dad saw me and made me explain. He said "so he's bigger that you?". I said "Yes Sir". Well He said "You can pick up a stick in this case". ("I did and sent the bully home crying....and then had to run from his mother who apperenty thought it was alright for him to pick on me.")

International Harvester, some years back. The doors did not lock auto, I pushed down buttons and then locked the driver’s door with the key, from outside. No way to lock the keys inside.

Every car since, I find an out of the way place on the frame and wire up a spare.

If you think you might need a gun if you go somewhere, you probably shouldn’t go there.

I thought I was getting old when one day I looked into the mirror and saw my father looking back at me.

And sometime later, I thought I was really getting old when I looked into my son’s face and saw my father looking back at me.

But today, Fathers Day, I looked into my grandson’s face, saw my father looking back at me, and then I knew I was really getting old.

To always put your family first.
Growing up we’d always hear him say God Bless America.
We grew up thankful to be in America because my parents came here from another country for a better life.

Sadly, I can say that my Dad never gave me any Sage advise.

From the time I was 12 years old back in the 1970’s I was a classic “latch Key kid” being raised by my working mother.

I did whatever I wanted and did my best to not get arrested.

Years later when I found Christ on my own and actually had an honest Man to Man talk, the only thing that I can recall is him telling me to, “Read the Book of Job”.

Years earlier, as my 3 Year old Daughter began singing little jingles she had heard on TV, I explained to her that virtually everything she sees on TV is “produced”. Produced by people that either want to sell you something or convince you of something. It isn’t real.

I hope my Daughter will never forget that lesson.

So far so good.

At what point in your decision matrix did this seem like a good idea?

Ok not exactly advice but I did hear it often enough. :)

1. Keep God first in your life.

2. You are mine and I have always loved you but I like the person you have become as well. (Again, not advise but one of my proudest moments)

3. There is no use staying up worrying about things before they happen. Nine times out of ten they don't and you will need all your strength to deal with that tenth item.

4. Make sure you marry someone you would choose as a friend.

5. Always give to missions.

6. If someone is hungry, share your biscuit.
