Anti-Trump delegates raising money for staff and a legal defense fund

Supporters of a growing anti-Donald Trump movement announced plans Sunday to raise money for staff and a possible legal defense fund as they asked new recruits to help spread the word with less than a month until the Republican National Convention.

Having started with just a few dozen delegates, organizers also said Sunday that they now count several hundred delegates and alternates as part of their campaign.

"As we carefully consider not only the presidential nominee but the rules of the convention, the platform of the Republican Party and the vice presidential nominee, remember that this is true reality TV – it is not entertainment," Regina Thomson, co-founder of the group now calling itself "Free the Delegates," said Sunday night.

The group is led by convention delegates seeking to block Trump at the GOP convention next month in Cleveland by changing party rules so that they can vote however they want -- instead of in line with the results of state caucuses and primaries. It is quickly emerging as the most organized effort to stop Trump and coincides with his declining poll numbers.

Cruz, bless his black little heart, needs to step up and put a stop to this.

Ted Cruz is pushing for a convention revolt. I can’t wait to vote for his primary opponent next year.

After 59 Americans were killed in the worst terror attack on US soil since 9/11 Cruz wants to play political footsie to the benefit of Hillary Rotten Criminal. That is unforgivably selfish and unpatriotic. Ted Cruz is dead to me.

They must really hate the republican party.

What are you talking about? They LOVE their party! They're CONSERVATIVES - they want to conserve things the way they are!

They better buy body armor and witness protection hideouts if they plan on stealing the nomination.

“They” will not, cannot steal the nomination. Short of Trump having a heart attack, he will be the nominee. He was not my favorite, but he beats Hilarious.

If nothing else, we now have two SCOTUS nominations, the most important item this time around.

This conflict is all new to me (I suspect I’m not the only one for same). State GOPs have laws/rules that state that the delegates must vote for winner on the 1st vote at the convention (some states include more vote, IIRC FL says 1st 3 votes). I don’t see how the convention rules can override those of the states, or am I wrong on that?

Also, everyone went into this thinking that a nominee needed 8 states and 1237 delegates, I don’t see how they can make large changes to that now. Plus, there are approximately 1236 unbound delegates, many of which I would suspect would vote for Trump.

TIA for anyone that knows more about this than me and can help me understand.

So...D. Trump wins, and wins big, biggest ever as a matter of fact, and these peons, these bedwetters, these worthless pieces of Shiite, will mount a campaign against him, and pick WHO? Who is out there that voters will overwhelmingly support instead of D.J. Trump?

Rhetorical, yes I know, but geez folks, get a clue, rub some neurons, create a post synaptic potential.
