Betrayed! 1,000 delegates to ditch Trump?

Just when it appeared that the movement to dump Donald Trump as the GOP presidential candidate was defeated, it looks like it has come roaring back.

And this time, it may have more momentum than ever.

As many as 1,000 delegates to the Republican National Convention may have interest in a new push to ditch Trump and allow delegates to choose another candidate.

The new movement is calling itself “Free the Delegates,” and it’s rallying like-minded Republicans to prepare for a fight.

But critics argue that it is a petulant coup that would set aside the will of millions of voters who backed Trump.

According to insiders, the Free the Delegates movement plans to organize thousands of delegates in a plot to depose Trump with a convention rules change.

“Roughly 30 delegates from 15 states participated in a conference call Thursday night,” Yahoo! reported Monday. “Since then, however, [their] campaign appears to have picked up steam. A second conference call on Sunday night attracted an alleged 1,000 participants.”

According to The Washington Post, “The group is led by delegates seeking to block Trump at the GOP convention next month in Cleveland by changing party rules so that they can vote however they want — instead of in line with the results of state caucuses and primaries. It is quickly emerging as the most organized effort to stop Trump and coincides with his declining poll numbers.”

The Free the Delegates movement is also reportedly raising money for staff and a legal defense fund.

This establishment threat to Trump’s nomination has grown increasingly credible. The Associated Press has reported that more and more Republicans in Congress are saying they will not attend the party convention and are not endorsing his candidacy.

Trump wondered aloud Saturday who his opponents would pick as a replacement, a problem that has plagued the “Never Trump” movement for months.

“Who are they going to pick? I beat everybody. But I don’t mean beat — I beat the hell out of them,” he said.

Tell us what you think! Would you support another GOP candidate if Trump was dropped at the Republican National Convention?

The republican party becomes a ceremonial, organization relying on mega donors to pay the rent and utilities on its HQ

By 2020 a viable 3rd independent party emerges to attract former republicans and democrats with the integrity to be repulsed by hillary Clinton

They would no longer be Cruz’s delegates...

Once theyre at the convention, the GOP decides ...

some might vote the way Cruz wants them too, and some may vote for trump to beat Hillary but all 600 wont love Trump enough to do it for the country...

I wouldn’t count on 600 votes for the legitimate nominee...

especially if they were Romney delegates in 2012...

If Trump is not the nominee, I will never vote again. I guess that’s the goal of the the GOPe.

To hell with them if this is true.

I changed party to Independent (35 years a Republican) after the last general election because of the outright stupidity of the Repugs in New Mexico. If this happens I will change to Democrat and will try to defeat any and all repugs from then on.

Exactly!! Even in the article, “As many as 1,000 delegates”, suddenly turns into “plans to organize thousands of delegates”. What a farce this story is!

Seems even the author is skeptical on the 1,000 count.

And taking part in the call does not mean agreement. Some or many could be opponents of the coup gathering intel.

I will vote for Hillary, unless Trump runs a third party.

My thoughts exactly!

GOPes must know they are toast, so they are going to go down in flames!

The problem is, they will take the whole country with them.

Somehow, someway, GOPe has got to go away!

AND LEAVE US ALONE!

Siberia? Mongolian desert? Devil’s Island?

That might be the action of a rational patriot but after seeing Cruz exposed in this campaign, I believe he is narcissism personified

No.
If the convention nominates another candidate, I’m staying home in November.

The GOP establishment has a death wish. If they succeed, they will lose everything.

Its gonna be fun to watch them crash and burn.

If Trump is not the nominee, I will never vote again.

Under this scenario I am considering voting democrat in all races. The only hope at that point will be to demolish the GOP once and for all, and the only way to do that is it see to it that they never win another election.

Then something else, something better may rise from the ashes. It's a gamble but this con job has to end at some point.

They’re called Democrats. I’m tired of calling them RINOs or Democrat Light. If they’re going to act Democrat, to me they are no matter how they label themselves.

At this point I think it's the base that's RINOs; after all, we've seen what the Republican party is all about by their actions not only here in this election-cycle, but also in the past decade. Do any of their actions really line up with the base's values and beliefs?

I want these people to be honest, and advertise themselves as what they REALLY are:

Republicans for Hillary

That is the ONLY conclusion that can be reached. These people are WORSE than Republicans for Johnson - who gave us the “Great Society” and the 1965 Immigration Act on a silver platter - because we have had history to learn from over the last 50 years. We (and they) KNOW FOR A FACT that the Dems despise this country’s ideals and only want power...and here they come to give it to them AGAIN.

These people are TRAITORS. Trump may not be the ideal candidate for most people, but he’s better than Hillary on 90% of the issues out there, and certainly no worse than her on the other 10% (and I know that when it actually comes time to make policy, that 10% will disappear).

Either Trump or Hillary will be the next POTUS. DECIDE WHICH YOU WOULD PREFER - and be honest about it. None of this being coy crap - SAY WHOM YOU PREFER, Hillary or Trump.

OK, here it is. I put up with the Bushes, I voted for Dole, I held my nose and voted for McCain and Romney.

This year my candidate was Cruz, but I really liked what I was reading about Trump so I started listening and the more I listened the more I liked, But, all along I was prepared to vote for whoever won the nomination as I will never ever vote for Hillary.

However, if this happens, I will not vote for whoever the GOPe puts in -- and I will officially become an Independent and will only vote for candidates that I agree with going forward. No more voting for the lesser evil.

And after this primary season, even if Trump is the nominee the GOP will never ever get another penny from me, from now on I will donate to individuals only.
