Too bad Trump didn't mention William Magear "Boss" Tweed, the most notorious politician in American history--and a Democrat at that, too.
What Tweed did between 1853 and 1871 is essentially a writ small version of what the Clintons have done.

What Tweed did between 1853 and 1871 is essentially a writ small version of what the Clintons have done. I take your point, but I'm willing to bet that only a tiny minority of Americans under age 50 have any idea who Boss Tweed was. So had Trump reached for that comparison, it would likely only have confused the issue.
