I don’t get the whole Amish joke angle for this sort of thing. I must’ve miss a turn back in Albuquerque. Can someone please explain it to me?

The least likely of all suspects. Extreme sarcasm.

They’re assuming it’s Moslem.

I never jump to that conclusion myself unless there are more earmarks than a simple shooting. MOs have MOs, especially true terrorism (conspiracy by a group, not individual action like Orlando).

Unfortunately, many here co-opted the “Amish” joke and apply it to blacks. Not at all as applicable because Amish are religious and Moslems are religious. Black is a race. I wish that bad joke would stop; apples and oranges.

I'll give it a try.

PC speak does not allow us to stereotype or assume that a certain ethnic group is committing most of the crime or most of a certain type of crime. So Freepers just insert the group that is least likely to be perps, the Amish. Instead of saying "blacks again" or "moslems again" they say, "must be those Amish (terrorists) again.

As an aside, I am looking to retire in an area that is drawing a lot of Mennonites. They make quiet neighbors who don't rob or steal very much. Ooops, sorry.

It is just a metaphor for the fact that media and government REFUSE to name perpetrators, suspected perpetrators and ‘persons unknown’ as black, illegal Hispanic, Muslim or otherwise when circumstances and logic tells most sane people that’s what the problem was. Political correctness taken to the absurd.

Saying “Amish” is just away to say “bullshit” to all these supposed truthsayers. No one on this forum believes that the Amish are anything else but law-abiding citizens. It is a good example of Reductio Absurdum in a sense.

re “Amish”

the MSM and many politicians refuse to acknowledge the background of perps who are politically protected (especially Muslims, blacks, and hispanics) because they don’t want citizens to know what is really going on....

so we mock them by using a label that is obviously ridiculous for the case....

They're the religion of peace, obviously.
