Triumph for 'Brexiteer' Nigel Farage, British scourge of the EU

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's vote to leave the European Union is a triumph for Nigel Farage, the abrasive anti-immigration politician who tapped into a deep well of popular anger that rivals failed to understand.

On a night that seemed to start badly for the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), with the last opinion polls predicting defeat for the Leave camp in Thursday's referendum, Farage said at first it looked like Remain would win.

But it ended with victory for him and on Friday morning he declared jubilantly that the vote for a British exit from the EU, or Brexit, heralded a new dawn for the nation.

"The EU is failing, the EU is dying. I hope we've knocked the first brick out of the wall. I hope this is the first step towards a Europe of sovereign nation states," he said, predicting that the Netherlands and Denmark would go next.

Not for the first time causing outrage, he said the result had been achieved "without a single bullet being fired".

The comment drew accusations of insensitivity after the killing of pro-EU lawmaker Jo Cox last week, after which a man charged with her murder told a court his name was "death to traitors, freedom for Britain".

But with his blunt approach, Farage has finally achieved the goal he has pursued relentlessly in his 25 years in politics.

So what?

This country is VERY different than it was in 1980.

If you could somehow resurrect Reagan in 2016, he'd lose, and lose badly.

He would be crushed in California, even though he was a successful two-term governor.

Trump a perfect conservative?

No.

But if he loses, it's lights out for the USA.

We simply cannot take on any more free-loading illegals, and mass-murdering refugees.

We can argue the abortion issue later.

If Hillary wins, it will be illegal to even have an "opinion" against abortion.

Her SCOTUS will make sure of that.

I'm not fighting the “Trump vs. Hillary” battle.

I've already said I'll for vote him.

This is about Farage following Trump which is definitely not the case. Furthermore, the comparison to Reagan which are ridiculous.

I'm against Hillary on every level on every topic.

Trump is, and has always been, a patriot. He is the ONLY candidate who grasps now and has affirmed for decades that the issue is putting America first. Until Trump entered the race, no one was talking about our lost sovereignty. But, as Trump says, without sovereignty you don’t even have a country. Trump alone pointed out that the political class, conservatives included, have sold our country out to foreign/globalist interests. Trump alone promised to ignore the trillions of dollars globalist interests pay to politicians to keep them selling out the USA; Trump alone promised to operate solely on America’s interests. He’s the only one whose conservatism means conserving the country itself.

But you keep pecking away at your list of conservative values. Trump, meanwhile, will keep on in his unique attempt to save the country’s very existence. It’s called the Big Picture, and Trump is the only candidate who understands it.

The EU has already told Britain not to let the door hit their posteriors on the way out.

Hopefully they will do just that. Then watch the scramble for trade pacts between the other Euros and the UK.

“The Global Money Changers will seek to punish them severely for daring to seek restoration of sovereignty... and return them to captivity!”

They can try. Then Trump can order a squadron of F-35s to fly over Brussels and shatter windows across the entire city.

Patriots don't donate to Chuck Schumer with the sole intent of lining their own pockets and then brag about it. Cronies do.

Would making your clothing products in China and Mexico be “selling out” or just being a good businessman? If the latter, we have a whole country full of good businessmen.

I'm sure if I scoured the records a DNC-sympathtic website dating back to 2008 I could find the same “he's the ONLY” lines for Obama.

He's not a deity. Just a man. A flawed one at that.

——the abrasive anti-immigration——

alternatively “cool as hell politician”

I’ve seen him many times on Cavuto and he is cool as hell. also, smooth as silk

Although I doubt he will make it to PM, he and Trump in tandem could really raise hell

It’s easy for people who never tried to run a successful business in NY to talk about things they don’t understand. Businessmen don’t make the rules; politicians do. For some reason Cruz supporters are unable to grasp this.

It amazes me how Trump supporters despise the likes of Soros and Buffet for doing the exact same thing as Trump did but since they happen to agree with Trump, he was simply playing by the rules politicians set and being a “great businessman.”

Cronyism is cronyism. Denial must be bliss.

Such shallow analysis! If you’re in your teens, then it’s understandable. Always nice to have young conservatives on-board!

So you’ve never run a business in a deep blue state. Well, it shows. Love the way you reserve all your indignation for Trump, the businessman, and zero for the politicians who make the rules. Haha. Next you’ll be lecturing me that the Koch brothers never gave Schumer far more than Trump ever dreamed of giving him.

SMH.

I live in this deep blue state but you keep telling yourself that buying off politicians for profit is ok only when it's in a blue state.

Drone.

Who said anything about ‘live’? I said run a successful business.

Are you sure you’re a conservative? You sound like a liberal. Conservatives grasp the fact that politicians are the problem. Liberals blame everything on business-people.

In your world, Trump wouldn’t have preferred to keep his cash and use it for something productive. In your world, Trump, not politicians, is responsible for creating a business environment that’s profitable for politicians.

You’re in the wrong party. You need to be a Dem, so as to be around others who cheer Schumer and condemn Trump.

Boring.

“In your world, Trump wouldn't’t have preferred to keep his cash and use it for something productive” - he did keep his cash. He gave to Clinton Foundation post her getting elected to the Senate to get some kickbacks. He gave to Schumer to get some kickbacks.

This is all good with you. So just say crony capitalism is acceptable in NY and you can move on.

I think that Army Captain lady posted a Trump poll. Go find it and celebrate.

BAIER: Mr. Trump, it’s not just your past support for single- payer health care. You've also supported a host of other liberal policies. Use — you've also donated to several Democratic candidates, Hillary Clinton included, Nancy Pelosi.

You explained away those donations saying you did that to get business-related favors.

And you said recently, quote, “When you give, they do whatever the hell you want them to do.”

TRUMP: You’d better believe it.

All too easy. His words. You'll no doubt explain it away - the thoughtless often do.

You appear hopelessly confused. You have no idea what a kick back is.

Do you know what happened to businesses that refused to pay mafia protection? The FedGov has ways of destroying business the mafia couldn’t even dream of. The way to avoid having your business targeted is to pay key politicians.

You won’t be able to comprehend this. But I’m on the verge of reporting you for smearing Trump. You said he got kickbacks and provided zero corroboration. Stop smearing him, or look up ‘kickbacks,’ and prove Trump got them.

PLEASE! Don't report me!

Giving to a politician so they “do what you want them to” when you are a billionaire is a payoff, kickback, payola, whatever you want to call it.

He did it to further his personal wealth, not to build public works.

Grow up. I thought I told you to go find a poll page.

You are using FR to post lies and smears about Trump. Is it your site? Did you set it up for the purpose of lying about Trump? Interesting hobby you have—helping Hillary. Maybe she’ll send you a free Woman Card for your efforts.

Did I not post a direct quote from him? Trump has admitted to donating to left wing politicians to help himself. If you don’t want to believe it, then freedom rings.

I’ve said before I’ll vote for him. I do not support Hillary in any way, shape or form. Doesn’t mean I need to close my eyes to Trump’s ills, of which there are many.

You use FR to lie about and smear Trump. You say he took kickbacks. You’ve posted no evidence because there is none. You are smearing Trump to Hillary’s advantage.

The Koch brothers gave far more $ to Schumer than Trump. How big was their kickback? Percentage-wise, was it larger or smaller than Trump’s? Please post all dollar amounts, so I can check your math, you Hillary-helper, you.
