Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump appeared to soften his tone on immigration Saturday, saying he wouldn't issue mass deportations if president.
"President Obama has mass deported vast numbers of people — the most ever, and it's never reported. I think people are going to find that I have not only the best policies, but I will have the biggest heart of anybody," Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg Politics Saturday.
Pressed on whether he would issue mass deportations as he has called for in the past, Trump said: "No, I would not call it mass deportations."
"We are going to get rid of a lot of bad dudes who are here. That I can tell you," Trump said.
Throughout his campaign, Trump has promised to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexican border and deport all 11 million people living in the country illegally.
In November, shortly after he launched his presidential campaign, Trump said he would build a "deportation force" to ship those in the country illegally back to their home countries.
"We're going to do it in a very humane fashion. Believe me. I have a bigger heart than you do. We're going to do it in a very human fashion," he said.

That was my thinking too. If employers are penalized for hiring illegals, sanctuary cities are done away with, welfare programs and schooling is not funded, it seems that a lot of people would leave on their own.
En masse, self-deportation, or one at a time, it makes no difference.
Basically, there’d be no reason for them to come here. All the goodies will be taken away.

Self deport will be a huge part of the plan.... if you want a card to become a US citizen, go back now with papers that will let you get in line...

Anyone associated with Islamist terrorist acts within the United States , though they be killed in the acts , their immediate family members , U.S. citizens or not , should also be permanently deported without appeal , their properties & assets seized .
There must be a cost too great to bear .
Well, he said they would be able to come back, but I don’t know whether he indicated they would be able to come back immediately or ahead of people who were in line to legally come in.

Entering the US without the proper papers (visa or green card) is a crime.
“Mass deportations” are not needed. Build a wall, enforce the law, everything else will take care of itself. And he shifted from the probably unconstitutional “Muslim ban” to “specified countries with terrorism problems” in his big speech a couple of weeks ago.
I don’t recall Trump EVER calling for ‘mass deportations’ .He did call for enforcing the law, building a border, having a pause, etc etc etc

He repeatedly said on an “expedited” basis. That was the GOPe pitch about a decade ago from Mitch Daniels and the like.
All they need to do is cut off the welfare, free housing, free tuition, free medical, etc. They’ll go home fast. At no cost to the US and in fact, with a tremendous savings.
Mass deport them all, and their little dogs too.
Oh, and soetoro isn't the Big Deporter. He just started counting turnbacks at the border as deportation.

I believe he will “cut off” their free stuff and force employers to comply with hiring laws pertaining to hiring illegals, they will self-deport.... in large numbers.
All he has to do is CUT OFF the funds for “illegals” ... no hospitals, no food stamps, no WELFARE! Without that, they’ll get hungry and GO HOME on there own. It would be equivalent to a MASS Deportation!
