It's nice to see the N.Y. Times attempting to explain the difference between a relationship with the Lord and religion. :)

Trump met with rubes, hayseeds and holly rollers.

No one who professes to be a Christian will ever be elected President.

Sorry. I’m too cynical to believe it. But whatever. Go Trump! Our nation cannot allow the Hildabeast to become POTUS.

“I believe he really made a commitment, but he’s a baby Christian.”

“Make a commitment” is not the Gospel, first off (but now’s not the time). Second, why wrap “baby Christian” around Churchillian Trump’s neck at a time like this?

Dobson doesn’t know Trump’s heart.

yeah, I’m really glad the New York Times is all about defining what Christianity is all about....thanks, NY Slimes.

BTW, how many Bible believing Christians are in your newsroom/on your editorial board/in the publisher’s family?

Here’s the deal: Trump may or may not have a deep personal faith in Jesus Christ. I hope he DOES. What I do know is this: he is better equipped, smarter, and more loving of this nation than the alternative Hitlery. His faults, though many, do not include a predilection to statism. He did not let Americans who were begging for help DIE at the hands of terrorists in the desert—then LIE to their families about the cause. He did not leave open national security secrets to the enemy.

So there are AMPLE reasons to back Trump over his opponent. Religion isn’t one of them.

Same reason I backed Mitt Romney. Mormon theology isn’t classical, biblical Christianity. Not by a long shot. But his opponent was (and is) purely anti-Bible....even an enemy, I would say. So the choice was simple.

It’ll be simple this time, too.

>>“He doesn’t know our language.”

That's Ok Jim Dobson.

If he reads FR - he can learn all about that and things like the Virginia Act for Establishing Religious Freedom...

Meanwhile...

Your search - "Virginia act" "thomas jefferson" site:www.focusonthefamily.com- did not match any documents.

https://www.google.com/search?q="Virginia+act"+site%3Awww.focusonthefamily.com

Focus Harder!   Trump ain't the Shrub.

“He doesn’t know our language.”

I hope they conducted the meeting in English.

For evangelicals, the heart of Christianity is a faith-based dependence on God. They often contrast this with what they characterize as merely “religion,” which they view as more rules and rituals-based.

I wonder how that slipped through the cracks?

Must be a closet Christian there.

Either that or it was an accident that they got something right for a change.

For evangelicals, the best argument (again) for Trump is: “He’s not Hillary.”

If Trump has really had a salvation experience, then we need to see some fruit of that salvation experience in the near future, if not then well maybe is was not what everyone thought! For me I hope it is true, because that is what we are suppose to be about, plus it will make it easier for voting for Trump!

That is actually an accurate characterization of what many evangelicals say.

Of course, that distinction is nowhere in the Bible.

Yes it is refreshing. They stated the distinction in simplistic terms but it was fairly well done.

“He used the word ‘hell’ four or five times,” he said. “He doesn’t know our language.”

So, evangelicals don't believe in hell?

Dobson is doing Trump no favors.

Anyone elses faith is no one business except that person and Jesus. Let the liberals run away with this and they will make it look like Cruz/Beck Mormonfest.

Jesus said these things;
Mat_6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Mat_6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Mat_6:18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
