“The story says he can’t really do this.”

Not yet. but if he controls the rules committee and/or installs his own convention chair (which he should) ...

And those speaking slots should be at the worst, lowest watched moments and for the least amount of time possible. Had they acted sooner, maybe more time or better slots.

When enough of his approaches to other things is ignored.

Yep, like herpes, Lyn’ Ted and his supporters are back at it again. I changed my tag line in hopes that we were done with Lyn’ Ted. Maybe I was premature.

Trump has no obligation to Cruz.

He might let him speak, but he won’t be forced into it.

The Republican National Committee officially declared Mitt Romney the party’s presumptive nominee Wednesday and announced steps toward a full merger of the two entities’ campaign infrastructure.

The move comes after a night in which Romney won all five Northeast states that held primaries, giving him another major delegate boost even though he’s still shy of the 1,144 he needs to formally clinch the nomination.

Sacajaweau found reference to that phrase ‘presumptive nominee’ here:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3443917/posts?page=163#163

The party already has taken steps to help its eventual nominee prepare for the general election, and said Wednesday it is clear Romney will be their candidate.

“He is our presumptive nominee. That means he is our guy,” Reince Priebus said. “It’s beyond an endorsement. It is a complete merger wherein the RNC is putting all of its resources and energy behind Mitt Romney to be the next president of the United States.”

Woah, thanks for the research!!! Wow completely different tone with Mittens in APRIL of 2012...

Oh, and look, Mitt only had 1,144 delegates...

So in 2012, when Mittens is the “presumptive nominee” we hear “He’s our guy; It’s BEYOND AN ENDORSEMENT,” and I suspect the endorsements were pouring in at that time too, but in 2016, we see a very different attitude on the part of party leaders and Cruz and his supporters when it comes to Trump!

of course not.
Kasich will buy out a restaurant chain.
Ted will self deport back to Canada.

I just love it how the GOP party loyalists came on Free Republic in '08 and '12 to lecture us on how we all had to hold our noses and take one for the team. Yet now with Trump, the shoe is on the other foot.

Damn hypocrites

By being passive aggressive and not endorsing, they are taking away from Trump’s momentum and the perception of unity.

Yes, and that's why Trump needs to 1) secure the nomination and then, 2) attack these D & R establishment hacks like he did in the primaries. Trump knows his supporters, and most of the country, despise the GOPe/Ds

Google what? If you were paying any attention, Corey said four out loud on Thursday.

Cruz ain't on it. Don't need Tedlims to win this one.

"I hope they come up with an amicable way of going forward after their squabbling. Donald isn’t one to want to make permanent enemies when he doesn’t need to."

To BusTed, that approach would not benefit Cruz. He stayed in hoping for the worst, now he will watch hoping for the worst.

Look Cruz is a Delusionist, and he made the mistake of picking another Delusionist - Jeffroe - as his top Tedlim. They think they have some sort of electoral game; what they have is a shared incipient paranoia and just enough yokels to paralyze a handful of backwater caucuses.

Buchanan ran three times for President under many of the same delusions, the final time abandoning the GOP altogether. Perhaps Ted can hook up with Pat and George Will in 8 years...

"I just read the NYT piece in its entirety. It reads as though Trump and the RNC are in harmony about presenting a united front. Trump has a point, those who refuse to honor their own personal "support the nominee" pledge should not be allowed on stage. They can;t be counted on to deliver a unifying message. I'm sure what he says is literally accurate, he would not invite them, not at the moment, and not in advance as part of planning the show."

This is so much more about Manafort not allowing an Eastwood-type 12-minute 'empty chair' improv fiasco (with Mitten's cadre hilariously pulling their hair out by the roots backstage after the fifth minute interminable minute ticked by) and so little about anything else.

Many thanks for the info on when they used the phrase “presumptive nominee”.

They did it in April 2012, before mittens had enough delegates.

Have they -ever- used that term -after- a candidate had enough delegates ?

In June, after all the primaries were done?

That’s what I was wondering .

It's found in many, many articles and also in earlier races. And just because someone introduces a new word into a dialogue doesn't change the FACT....the Nomination occurs at the convention after the votes have been cast and a nominee is finally chosen.

Presumptive, probable, most likely...use any of those words or any others that mean the same thing.

The point is....there is no ACTUAL nominee until the votes have been cast and the nominee emerges.

This whole conversation is a dumb rut.
