Pepsi To Bring Back Aspartame-Sweetened Diet Pepsi By September
Consumerist ^ | June 27, 2016

Weeks after it was rumored that continued falling sales would propel PepsiCo to once again change the sweetener used in its main calorie-free beverage, Diet Pepsi, back to aspartame, the company announced plans to do just that Monday. PepsiCo said Monday that it would reintroduce aspartame-sweetened Diet Pepsi in September, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Despite reintroducing the aspartame-sweetened beverage, PepsiCo says it will continue to sell a version sweetened with a blend of sucralose (Splenda) and acesulfame potassium (branded as “Ace K”) that began to appear on shelves last summer.

Used to drink Diet Pepsi years back but Coke Zero (Cherry) is a superior product so I switched and I doubt I’ll go back.

Haven’t had a canned drink since sometime in the 1980’s. They all taste like malted battery acid.

We have been going out of our way to make sure that no product with non-nutritive sweeteners are allowed into this house. Some companies are now sneaking it into non-diet products and those are no longer purchased here either. Ive gotten to the point that I read every label on any processed food. I dont care how small the amount supposedly is, if I find it then its banned.

Dogs are deathly allergic to some of the artificial sweeteners that some peanut butter companies are now using. Please check the ingredients before giving any to your dog!!!

Twice a day snack of one of my best friends years ago was Diet Pepsi, Twinkies and Chicken ‘n Biscuit crackers. Even got the rest of the family addicted. I wish they would bring back the Coke they used to sell in the green glass bottles, never liked Pepsi.

“Give me a Pepsi Free.”

“If you want a Pepsi, pal, you’re gonna pay for it!”

All thanks to the federal government’s asinine sugar subsidy. If they’d get rid of it, soda would be made with pure sugar cane. My store sells the Coca-Cola made and bottled in Mexico, and it is far superior than the high fructose corn syrup crap.

Aspartame gave me the worst headaches you could ever imagine. It felt like my head was going to explode. I’ll take sugar or stevia.

I’d rather just stick with Pepsi Throwback, made with real cane sugar. A can or two a week isn’t going to harm most people.

Geez, people! Drink real sugar of you want sweet. Your body knows what it is. It’s known about sugar since the beginning of time. This artificial crap, not so much.

No offense Pepsi fans, but you can’t beat the real thing - sugar.

Aspartame is a neurotoxin. The history of its approval by the FDA is Machiavellian to say the least.

How about they change back to real sugar?

Pepsi does have a 'throw back' real sugar Pepsi, and mountain dew, it's pretty good. Their Gatorade has real sugar now, no teeth-ache anymore when gulping those electrolytes. Coke too, got to look around to find them but they are bringing back more 'real-sugar' products.

If there are any stores around you that cater to the Mexican types, you can buy the version of Pepsi that is bottled for Mexico, which is still in glass bottles and uses regular sugar instead of the HFCS
