WASHINGTON, June 28 (UPI) -- A tracking poll in the U.S. presidential election shows Democrat Hillary Clinton widening her lead over Republican Donald Trump and approaching the 50 percent threshold nationally in a head-to-head matchup.

The NBC News/SurveyMonkey online weekly tracking poll shows Clinton with a 49 percent-41 percent lead over Trump, her largest lead in that poll since it began tracking the likely general election matchup in early May.

IF you take a look at hotair.com, they have quite a few good articles about the various polls coming out and what the Trump ground game looks like. My initial opinion is that it does not look like Trump has a good ground game on and he needs state and local party support and he is not reaching out as he should to get local support going. Most here seem to have their blinders on saying Trump is going to win in a landslide and dismissing or ignoring current poll numbers.

Reach out? Like the highest ranking elected Republican calling a press conference to call Trump a “textbook racist”? That kind of “outreach”? At some point the mainline GOP has to decide if they want a winning GOP ticket in November. Apparently, they do not. That’s is 100% on them. Not Trump.

that’s easily explained as democRATS crossing over to vote in the GOP primary. don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s anything other than democRAT shenanigans to make sure Trump was the nominee Hillary would face.

open primaries are absurd. this is EXACTLY why. this is exactly why democRATS want open primaries. they want to be able to influence the GOP nominees.

This pro-gun, evangelical, pro-life, tree hugging black-mexican lesbian is eagerly anticipating a phone call to let a pollster know I’m voting for Hillary.

Its not as much a national campaign as its a state by state campaign especially in the swing states.

Just taking OH for example as there was an article on hotair last week, Trump has one office there and a few staffers compared to the opposition who have hundreds of staffers there.

So just saying that he or his team is still running behind to get prepared to do what it takes in the various states.

Ohio? Who has a turn key operation there that could help the entire GOP ticket in November? It is not Trump’s fault the GOP has taken their ball and gone home.
