Mark Levin has lost me. A strict constructionist would know that the income tax cannot co-exist with either the spirit or the letter of the supreme law. Today he argued that we don't need tariffs because we have income tax. The Founders specifically forbade direct taxes in the Constitution, and that clause has never been repealed. Indirect taxes were considered to be the only moral way to raise revenue. Tariffs are a CONSTITUTIONAL TAX!

I used to look forward to listening to Levin on my hour-long commute home. Then he went #NEVERTRUMP berserk.

I’m not even sure he’s still on the radio.

Levin didn’t get his way in the primaries so for now he’s crying into his Wheaties.

I expect him to come around and endorse Trump before the election though. There’s just too much at stake and Hillary should never EVER be trusted with any power.

The only thing this tells me is that Levin makes most of his money in ways that he can declare it not as income, but as investment returns, etc.

And he doesn't want to spend more money on his luxury goods either because of a sales tax or tariff.

Optima Tax Relief must pay Mark a lot of money. Every conservative talk show host has a similar “tax relief” advertiser. This only perpetuates the IRS by making it palatable to a natural enemy: conservatives. Good cop, bad cop? I never thought I would ever see the day that ALL conservatives support the concept of direct taxes, total submission to a totalitarian tax system, and supplying aid and comfort to the enemies of freedom.

Even a few months ago Mark was calling Trump’s tax plan Reaganesque. I listened to two straight hours of Trump-bashing today. Could NOT take the third hour.

Mark Levin having a debate with someone who has been dead for the better part of 100 years?

To the Levin/Beck/Cruz axis I guess that makes some sense. To the rest of the world, notsomuch.

Me too. It appears the post is not what it appears to be; something is missing that gives the reason for the post.

I was never with Mark, for many reasons, one being I don’t like or respect bullies. His economic understanding is dismal. He uses & twists the constitution to make it say what he wants it to say....which seems to change from month to month with him these days.

My point in posting the Forbes article is that Mark’s Liberty Amendment on taxes would GUARANTEE that the Income Tax never goes away. Why would he want to keep it in any form?

I listened to the first half hour or so of Levin today but I just didn’t want to listen to more Trump bashing.

I switched on Judge Judy just for laughs instead.

Mark Levin is a blowhard, who is NOT and NEVER has been as intelligent as hes and hos cultist followers believe him to be. He is also a VERY nasty person and can’t ever accept the fact that he is not correct 100% of the time, nor that everyone isn’t going to slobber over him, praise him, and/or kiss his arse. Actually, he truly IS a loud mouthed jerk !

Don’t hold your breathe; Mark is a BIG BABY and a damned DOG IN THE MANGER. I doubt that he’ll ever endorse Trump.

Some conservatives and libertarians are not realists. They believe that somehow we can get rid of all taxes and the government will just go away and crawl under a rock.

To his credit Levin appears to be a realist. He knows that there will always be some form of tax that can generate the billions of dollars necessary to run our Leviathan government.

He just doesn't want a sales tax or tariff because his tax accountant has told him that will hit him harder than an income tax. His tax accountant has also probably helped him craft his compensation packages with his various projects in such a way that they either don't look like income, or they appear as income with lots of deductions.

Given his recent decline in sanity, he might be able to depreciate his intellect for tax benefits!

The title you created :

"100 years after Wilson, Levin pens a response "

didn't match the linked source and had to be changed.

Thanks.

My reason for posting is to point out that Levin’s Liberty Amendment on taxation would guarantee that the IRS would last for another 100 years. Why would he want that? Today he actually said that we don’t need tariffs, we have the income tax. Tariffs are constitutional taxes. The income tax is an abomination and antithetical to liberty. Liberty Amendments that promote tyranny? Makes no sense.

Very well, still, something is missing here. We could just as easily abolish the IRS during a constitutional convention. I heard that show segment today, what you say is not what I heard, at least as far as I can remember.

Same. I guess the ‘North American Treaty’, Goldman Sachs, and the CFR are important to him.

We existed as a country without the income tax for over 100 years. America will never be free until we can tell anyone inquiring about our finances to go to hell. As long as the IRS exists our finances, property, chattels, cash in pocket, credit card statements, life insurance policies... and on and on and on... WILL BE SUBJECT TO EXAMINATION. Smell like freedom to you?
