Whether he was told by his handlers to take the "high road" or he knew exactly what he was doing may be up for debate. However going by his recent behaviors and patterns, I'd place my money on "he knew exactly what he was doing".
My guess is Ryan has been promised his place in the new order. Seeing as his wife is a Democratic lobbyist, his convictions were never very strong any way.

She obviously has health problems. Concussion from falling. Coughing fits. Cannot video her walking up or down stairs. Special glasses worn to correct double vision. You can chalk it up to old age or visiting a small island that just had three nuclear reactors meltdown. Two of which exploded after meltout. And a fourth where a fire occurred in the spent fuel pool. Obviously she was not breathing healthy air. Inside her lungs went radioactive particles. Cannot be removed and emit radiation for the remainder of her life. She is just like most of the Japanese now. We are just starting to hear about their health problems.

Yes, I agree with that. Also the manner in which the predictions or accusations are made is in-artful and maladroit in the least.
