I love a happy ending!..........................
Qui audet adipiscitur
Sounds like VC material, if true.
My son has a WWII era Kukri in his collection. He bought it from someone who found it in a used car they had bought. It’s beyond razor sharp. Huzzah to the soldier.
dang!
Its design is perfect for its intended use.
The design is probably over a thousand years old...............................
It is older than that.
My Cold Steel Kukhri came with a short history of the weapon.
It was introduced to that area by Alexander The Greats soldiers.
My company put the roof on the Hong Kong airport. The only workers we could find courageous enough to walk that curved roof were Gurkhas. They also carried with them their knives and each one had a collection of scars on their arms. When asked about it the interpreter explained that if they draw the knife it wants to draw blood, and if there is no victim available they cut themselves. These were very tough little fearless guys, and this SAS guy met their standard.
Form follows function, even 2500 years ago!....................
Don’t mess with Gurkhas.
According to the original article, this soldier is 27 years old and has 15 years of combat experience. I did not realize that British allowed people to enlist at such a young age.
3 isis queers and none of them had a gun?
Many survival experts have come to prefer this over other large knives or machetes for it's superiority in chopping.
They vary in size quite a bit, with a 12" overall being on the short side and 16" to 18" being about the norm.
Here is a picture of the American made K-Bar version:
Cold Steel and several other large American knife companies also make them.
I believe the first commercial version of this type of knife in the USA was created by the late, great Al Mar:
Gotta love the SAS.
They’re a brilliant bunch of guys.
He said if ‘prisoners’ were needed (alive) they would send the Gurkhas up the hill.
They went up the hill at night with only their knives and invariably returned WITH LIVE German prisoners
This Gurkha guy has better be glad that he’s not in the US Army, obama and defense secretary carter would probably bring him up on charges of his not giving the IS fighters the same weapon he had so it would be a fair fight./s Lots of sarcasm intended!
