A day after a video captured white officers pinning down and shooting a black man outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, federal authorities are investigating the case.
Alton Sterling, 37, is dead. The U.S. Justice Department's Civil Rights Division is leading an investigation into what happened. And the president of the NAACP's local branch is calling for the city's police chief and mayor to resign.

Where did that picture come from? I’ve seen the cell phone video where the cop was on top of the man shooting him but nothing like this.
it’s going to be a long hot summer. This will be played up big to distract from Hillary’s non indictment.
True. Still, this is pretty ugly especially since Louisiana is a shall-issue state and a lot of law abiding people are armed. So that raises the question of do the police get to kill you simply because you have the temerity to exercise your rights?
Seriously, in all fifty states now the mere presence of a firearm should neither be cause for alarm nor should it constitute probable cause or justification for deadly force to be used.
White cop + black man killed= massive outrage.
Black thug + white cop killed= media and dems don’t care.
The situation is a little different when you’re actively resisting arrest and are found to have a weapon. And you are a convicted felon who isn’t allowed said weapon.
NBC led with it tonight because, you know, there’s no other news in this election year...
To the Huffington Post, "unarmed" means only one gun.
very good point. You all I know is I’m glad I’m not working in Manhattan anymore and I’m on Staten Island. I won’t have to see or be around any of the riots. they don’t ride it out here because they are outnumbered ten-to-one.
are you kidding me? This is got to stop. We are in trouble if we let the MSM dictate this election up until November. We should be protesting in front of their offices. how come we never protest? call jobs and family would be one reason. However this is really important. 350 million people in the country and a bad shoot happens several times a year. and it’s front-page news. great
Cops: drugs? booze? psych issues? legal/disciplinary issues?
Dead guy? drugs? booze? psych issues? criminal record?
> a convicted felon who isnt allowed said weapon
Could the LEOs have know that at the time?
I agree, the guy was resisting and took it to another level unnecessarily. LOEs had him down and restrained. The only question would be was he actively trying to get to his weapon.
They also ran the Gretchen Carlson harassment lawsuit story, just for gloating purposes I suppose; it doesn’t seem significant enough for the nightly news other than to discredit Fox.
I talked with somebody from BTR. Sterling shot first.
No, but the first part matters, and the second part matters in the after-action assessment.
Wait, the perp discharged his weapon!?

Media will be all over it.
I got a phone call a couple of hours ago filling me in on the story. I have to go down there for a meeting on Monday and Tuesday and was told I would be transported to the venue in a safe manner.
