Donald Trump met Thursday with former GOP presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus in Washington, a source told CNN.
The meeting is the first time Cruz and Trump have met in person since the Texas senator dropped out of the presidential race after losing the Indiana primary more than two months ago.
The source could not say what the men discussed as they conferred at the National Republican Senatorial Committee headquarters where Trump also met with several dozen Republican senators on Thursday.
The Texas senator has so far refused to endorse Trump, but has not ruled it out.
While Cruz resisted criticizing Trump in the initial months of the GOP primary campaign, Cruz would eventually become one of Trump's fiercest rivals -- and the last remaining legitimate challenge to Trump's campaign to win the Republican presidential nomination.
And the final weeks of Cruz's campaign were dominated by Trump's personal attacks against the Texas senator and his family as the fight between the two men grew increasingly bitter and personal.
In late March, Trump threatened to "spill the beans" on Cruz's wife after an anti-Trump super PAC unaffiliated with Cruz's campaign pushed out a series of digital ads aimed at portraying Trump's wife in a negative light. And Trump would later also retweet an unflattering picture of the Texans' wife alongside a glamorous shot of his own wife with the caption "the images are worth a thousand words."
And as Indiana's Republican voters headed to the polls, Trump again turned to the personal, accusing Cruz's father of being involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

I think it was the attacks against his wife and father that made it personal and not political with Cruz. And I think Trump knows that. In fact, the only time in this entire campaign that Trump has made a correction was when he said he shouldn’t have retweeted some of the stuff about Heidi Cruz.
I know that Trump didn’t say or start much of it, but his campaign sure used it to get under Cruz’s skin.
I look forward to Trump doing this against Hillary, but since he needs Cruz and his supporters in the general, it wasn’t the wisest thing to do. (Especially since he was already well on the way by the time the attacks against Cruz’s wife and father happened.)
Make nice, reconcile, and unite.
If Trump nominates another liberal for veep slot such and giuliani or christy it will make it almost impossible for conservatives to hold their nose and vote for him. So far I am willing to vote for him ONLY to keep Hilary out of office. If he puts another liberal on the ticket with him, that will be harder to do. Staying home will become a real option
We need that one.
Nothing personal, but you guys are nutty if you believe that.
Again, nothing personal, I’m just saying this is a goofy thing to believe.
Well said.
Bury the hatchet gentlemen.
Loyalty, truthfulness, and honoring one’s word mean a lot to most of us.
So to hell with Cruz and his supporters?
Good. Stay home and you will have fulfilled your dream about Hillary as your president.
I think Trump will be hard pressed to find a conservative who would run with him.
Newt would.
I’m not sure if you consider Rick Perry a conservative.
Another person mentioned Santorum.
Politics and business can be brutal sports. But they are both adults and can come out of this stronger. Although “Lyin Ted’ will be hard to shake off ;)
Like the nude photo Cruz campaign did of Melania Trump? The photo of Heidi was just a sour face she made. Which was worse?
“Another liberal”.
Get a grip Cruzer.
Very interesting.....
This article is a waste of time. Other than the title, it doesn’t give any information about their “meeting”.
I’m glad they met and hope they will agree to bury their hatchets. There is far too much at stake for them to do otherwise.
Cruz needs to stay put unless Trump offers him a position in his cabinet.
Good grief, Lying Ted Cruz spewed the first salvo.. Harvard Law schooled Lying Ted is not even eligible under our Constitution to hold the office of president.
Thinking that Trump would not win the Republican nomination and would then make a 3rd party run at the Presidency, the other Republican candidates banded together to get Trump to pledge his support to the eventual Republican primary winner. All candidates signed this very same pledge.
With ~ 1500 delegates committed to Trump on the first ballot at the convention and only needing 1234, Trump is a shoe in for the nomination.
So what are the other stalwart Republican losers doing?
They
Are attempting to stage a coup on the convention floor by releasing delegates from their first ballot responsibilities
and
They are falling to endorse Trump as the nominee which he clearly is at this stage.
Traitors all
Couple this with the Clinton fiasco and you get...
1776 brewing
The political class of whatever class are a bunch of low life LIARs. It time past We the People take back our country.
They tried to paint trump as a thin skinned baby, meanwhile Cruz is still butt hurt and hasn’t endorsed Trump like that statesman they claimed he was.
Soooooooooo okay what if Trump offers Cruz seat on Supreme bench at appropriate time and all of this anarchy from Cruz was just political theatre?
Way to unify the party there If you want a populist liberal ticket with no conservative input there will not be any difference between trump and Hilary Fortunately we will be voting for the ticket not trumps supporters
