The Falcon Heights, Minnesota police shooting of Philando Castile is based around an entirely false narrative. Castile and Ms. Diamond Reynolds (Facebook video uploader) were pulled over by police because Castile matched a BOLO Alert for an armed robbery suspect from four days prior.
Unfortunately, the false statements in the video – which have gone viral, and are being pushed by the mainstream media – have created a backlash against police officers.

Castile looking like an armed robber explains why the officer was jumpy. It doesn’t mean Castile was the robber. It doesn’t mean the shooting was justified.

That is true, but the article is not really about the guilt or innocence of the man shot, but the state of mind of the cop. Because of the passenger's video comments, people think he was pulled over by the police for a broken tail light and then quickly shot, without the police knowing anything except that he was black.
Now we know the cop was actually looking for suspects in an armed robbery that matched his description. This fact probably isn't enough to exonerate him, but he must have been more stressed approaching a car that he thought might have an armed robber in it than just some guy with a broken tail light.

The robber from 4 days ago was clean shaven from the side of the cheek up to the hair. The driver definitely had hair all the way from the goatee up to the hair.
KARE claims they did verify his CC permit thru Hennipen County. What they also found was he sure got pulled over a lot:
“Castile had 79 different charges – all of them vehicle and traffic stop related. More than half of them – 48 – eventually were dismissed.
Castile was found guilty 31 times of misdemeanors or petty misdemeanors. The charges included driving on a suspended license, no proof of insurance, and seatbelt and parking violations.”
also, I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but I watched that video a dozen times and never once noticed the gun laying on his thigh - I thought it was his wallet and mentally dismissed it.
The person in the robbery video looked just like him. The robbery gun looked like a Colt Woodsman type of target pistol though it could be a different brand. When he was pulled over a pistol was on his right leg, but it was partially obscured in the car photo. If it was the same type that would be another bit of correlation. Not a CCW type gun and the county sheriff said he had never applied for a CCW permit. The girlfriend lied when she said they were pulled over for a burned out tail light. They were pulled over because they were only a few blocks from where the robbery happened and he looked like the robber.
“Did the dead guy have a CC permit as his “girlfriend” so loudly proclaimed? It should be a no-brainer for the LEO’s to figure that one out.”
In the moment, it doesn’t matter. One obeys lawful commands or suffers the consequences.
Not replying to you specifically, just to the thread in general. Exonerate who? All we know is what the delightful woman said. We only see an aftermath. How do we know what the heck happened ? 1 word: Ferguson. We heard all kinds of lies about that incident.
The cop has a side to this as well. I want to hear his side.
I listened, and I think your skepticism is warranted. The other thing is that there are not a lot of people recording everything off their scanner every day.

Did the LEO walk up to vehicle and tell the occupants the male appeared to match the description of a robbery suspect? Or did the LEO tell the occupants they were pulled over for a tail light infraction?
I think it would be the latter so as not to spoke a possible suspect.
No call signs either. It actually sounds like the stumbling of a teenager not a veteran police officer.
The whole narrative being put forward by the girlfriend sounded way too “Gentle Giant” to me. It doesn’t ring true.

The cop would never just walk up and tell the male they were pulled over because he matched a description of a robbery suspect. They'd do a pretext, like a tail light issue.

Precisely. I think at this point, most people of a certain demographic - or at least those that think they might need it, are ready with “the narrative” in the back of their minds. Dindu Nuffin. Hands up, don’t shoot. Etc.
The enemedia is, of course, happy to run with this narrative 24/7 to the exclusion of the truth.

I noticed that too. Might be hard to grow that much facial hair in a few days. In addition,this man had a job, and was liked by the people who knew him at the school where he worked. He did not convey the aspect of a criminal to them, according to everything I read.
Actually, I think that's not completely accurate. Castile looked like the armed robbery suspect. I've compared the two pictures, and I see the resemblance. But, I didn't see any distinguishing characteristics that would confirm it's the same person.
But, I think the actual radio transmission by the officer prior to the traffic stop was very illuminating:
“The two occupants just look like people that were involved in a robbery. The driver looks more like one of our suspects, just ‘cause of the wide set nose.”
Did you get that? just 'cause of the wide set nose.
The article in question declares he was the armed robbery suspect, because the officer thought he had a nose that was shaped a certain way.
I hope he was wearing a body cam so the whole story is told...
This police dept. doesn't have body cams. There was reportedly a dashcam, but since the suspect/victim never got out of the car, I don't know how much it will show.
No body cam, but there was a dashcam. At this point, it's difficult to guess what it might show, since the victim/suspect never got out of the car.
