The black Army veteran who killed five Dallas police officers donned a protective vest and used a military-style semi-automatic rifle in the sniper slayings, officials said, an attack that layered new anxiety onto a nation already divided about guns and how police treat African-Americans.
Micah Johnson was killed by a robot-delivered bomb Thursday after the shootings, which marked the deadliest day for U.S. law enforcement since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
In all, 12 officers were shot just a few blocks from where President John F. Kennedy was slain in 1963.

Can you imagine the hysteria if this had been tea party or Trump related? BLM rhetoric set this guy off, plain and simple.
Five dead and seven injured cops say differently.
I understand that he may have had a sexual harassment charge against him when he was still in.
The nation is not divided about guns. And how about how "African-Americans" treat police? And everyone else, for that matter, including other "African-Americans?"
Low level IQ? Brain fried on drugs? But my guess is, habit. Don’t know if you ever visit Liveleak but there is a community subset whose lives revolve around the threat - and delivery - of violence.
They are attempting to destroy the respect a majority of Americans have for those who have served.
I loathe these people.
I wonder how long, before this ball of crap comes unraveled.
Apparently the guy used a vintage SKS with a 10 round mag that is even legal in CA.
His military service did not drive him to kill police. It was his black liberation/panther hatred for whitey and the blm terrorist/marxist hatred for whitey.
An immediate call to stop the sell of semi autos would be the mantra. And sadly, the emotion of the moment would probably carry it through the Congress.
6 years in and he was still an E-3?
Sure sign of a loser.
The religion of black identity. All power comes out of the sleeve of a Dashiki.
RE”...SKS is a military-style rifle?...”
Wellllll, yes, technically, it IS... but a very OLD “military-style” carbine, developed right at the very end of WWII and replaced by the AK47.
They were used in Korea and Vietnam as well. Millions were made by Russian, China, North Korea, East Germany, Yugoslavia, Albania.
So, strictly-speaking, yes, it IS in fact a “military-style” semi-automatic carbine, in the same way that an M1 Garand is a “military-style” firearm. But the distinction will be lost on the non-gun owning sheeple public who they are trying desperately to terrify into compliance. Those people wouldn’t know a 7.62x39 from a .22LR.
Anything they can do to tie the murderer - wait, let me rephrase that - a BLACK LIVES MATTER TERRORIST who murdered police officers - to banning Americans’ guns, they’ll use.
It’s what they do.
“The Viet Cong seemed to think it was a military rifle.”
The Taliban thinks the Enfield is a military rifle. Like the Viet Cong, they use whatever they can find.
Bradford Glendening, the military lawyer who represented him, says the woman sought a protective order to keep Johnson away from her and her family. The Army sent Johnson stateside, recommending an “other than honorable discharge.” “In his case, it was apparently so egregious, it was not just the act itself,” Glendening says. “I’m sure that this guy was the black sheep of his unit.” He says Johnson was set to be removed from the Army in September 2014 because of the incident, but inexplicably got an honorable discharge months later.

Using that logic (it’s not you but you thinking for the gun grabbers), EVERY rifle is a military-styled rifle including my Mosin bolt gun and my 45-70 lever action rifle because the military used that type of rifle at some point.
SKS are good hog hunting rifles and survivalist rifles.
“...EVERY rifle is a military-styled rifle including my Mosin bolt gun and my 45-70 lever action rifle because the military used that type of rifle at some point...”
To them, yes.
Anything that spits out lead is evil in their minds and the only people that should have them is the government... regardless of the fact that governments have murdered more human beings in mass quantity than any other entity.
The answer to the calls for gun confiscation is and always will be “GFYourself”.
The SKS round performs well within the enevelop it was designed for, like anything else.
I've got Fox on and Shep just had an "expert" on explaining why the police have shut the downtown area down (they're looking for every 'shell casing' because you can identify the weapon used by the shell casings) and the expert further volunteered that the "assault weapon" used is an AR-15 variant.
So there!
“Five dead and seven injured cops say differently.”
The 7.62x39mm is a very effective caliber. I prefer it over the 5.56 or 5.45x39mm because I shoot mostly iron sights. It’s effective at short range (<300m) but not accurate like the other carbine calibers or 7.62x51 or 54R.
He was very close when shot the police. That’s why I think he probably used the 30 round detachable magazines instead of the standard 10 round stripper clips.
