Isaiah Crowell Hides behind Apology, learns about free speech blowback
Movietvtechgeeks ^ | July 13, 2016 | Shane Mclendon

Isaiah Crowell is doing what most athletes do when they get in hot water by sharing their thoughts on controversial news items. The Cleveland Browns running back is backpedaling.

And doing so faster than he ever thought about running the 40-yard dash.

Crowell has never been accused of being the most enlightened of football players.

-snip-

After three years in the NFL, you would think the young man had matured to some degree. But when Crowell went to Instagram to post a photo of a police officer having his throat slashed, it was clear he’s just as reckless as ever.

Crowell blamed his “mistake” on being upset at the recent police shootings in Minnesota and Louisiana.

“I posted an image to Instagram in the midst of that emotion that I shouldn’t have and immediately removed it. It was an extremely poor decision, and I apologize for that mistake and for offending people. My values and beliefs do not match that image,” Crowell wrote on .

So for any folks out there who do think it’s OK to slaughter guys with badges as a whole, Isaiah Crowell is not a guy you can count on to do any of the dirty work. This privileged pro football player, who signed a $1.5 million dollar contract in 2014, is just a keyboard gangster.

This story is amazing on several levels. Obviously a certain segment of the population has been brainwashed to the point that facts don't matter. The stupid among them, and they are legion, insist on burnishing their street cred by making idiotic statement public, as if there will be no blowback. They are obviously not exposed to different points of view.

The stupidity of this act is also also astounding. This NFL thug is, basically, advocating killing police. Imagine a world with no police. In other words, no civil society. How does the NFL play its games in such an environment? How does Isaiah get paid? What planet is this guy on.

Stupid is as stupid does. This guy deserves a lifetime ban. Without the NFL he would be selling loosies outside a variety store on Martin Luther King Blvd. in any number of inner cities. Just another du....ck negro.

So, posting a threat of violent murder is just “hot water”, immature, “reckless”, “mistake”, “extremely poor decision”.

Plus, if you read his apology, trust me, he did not write it.

I haven’t seen any definitive statement from either the NFL or the Cleveland Browns repudiating this idiot’s statements.

Absent that, one is left to conclude that both the NFL and the Cleveland Browns endorse the murder of police officers.

Crowell went to a high school close to me. Thug. Entirely. Talented but 110% thug.

Was dismissed from UGA for thug behavior.

He won’t make it long n the nfl. He’ll be in trouble with his teammates, his coaches, and the law too soon.

He was thinking what 99% of blacks in America think, viz. they are entitled to say whatever comes to mind. There is no repercussion for their violent, racist rhetoric.

That's what he was thinking.

Maybe when the baby boomers all croak, maybe successive generations might get tired of this bull? After all, we're the generation carrying the whole white guilt thing.

Fact is, I wasn't driving the bus Rosa Parks boarded and had nothing to do with oppression. Why should I have to pay the price?

The Browns should have cut him immediately. They failed that test.

Crowell should be cut from the team. First and foremost for the message it would send to the rest of the team, and the league. Secondly, the Browns suck, they can lose 11 games with Crowell, they can lose 11 games without him.

Typical UGA punk. What was Steve Spurrier’s famous line about UGA? He loved playing them early in the year because he knew they would have at least 3-4 players suspended.

Statement from Cleveland Browns Representative on Isaiah Crowell

We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision. It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment. Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post.

The person who designed that picture should be arrested for inciting violence against policemen.

NFL is all about being politically correct and when you’re one of the protected class the brother-man commish will bend over backward. The Browns likely know there are numerous other players who hold similar views on their team so they’ll play this by ear rather than principle.

If I owned the team, I would sit the GM and coach down and explain the facts of life to them. This guy doesn't play for the Browns. Either you cut him or I do. If I do the cutting, I do not need either of you. End of meeting.

I believe it is a slippery slope once we start arresting people for drawings. At some point, there is a government official determining what is and isn't "inciting violence". You would have to be VERY careful of who that government official happens to be at any given point in time.

I agree but it won’t happen. What if a white player had done the same thing to a BLM guy? All hell would break loose!

That is so criminally despicable! What the heart thinkth the mouth speakth ...in this case his heart spilled the most horrendous picture of his hatred towards the white the community, who in reality pay his million dollar salary! The police should demanded that he be kicked off the football team and forced to wear a blue uniform and walk the Chicago streets at night! If he can survive unscathed with his life in hand for a whole year he should be given the opportunity to return to his team!
