Veepstakes: Scarborough Politely Trashes Pence, Makes Case for Christie
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 07/14/2016 7:05:25 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Joe Scarborough couldn’t have been kinder as he put the shiv into Mike Pence this morning. The opening segment of Morning Joe was devoted to the veepstakes, and Scarborough politely trashed Pence while making the case for Chris Christie.

Scarborough went out of his way to praise Pence as an “able leader” and someone he likes. But he proceeded to say that Pence wasn’t “ready for prime time.” Joe broke out the deer-in-headlights metaphor and analogized Pence to previous running-mate “disasters.” On the other hand, Joe argued that Christie is someone who has been on the national stage, capable of destroying Marco Rubio with one debate, and who is best equipped to prosecute the case against Hillary Clinton.

The only thing that Christie has going for him - the ONLY thing - is his truculent attitude towards the press. He is otherwise nearly a democrat.

Christie Kream has star quality IMO. He's fast on his feet, has a sense of humor and handles himself well when speaking in public or taking questions (a lot like Trump). I enjoyed watching him in the debates, even though there was no way in hell I was going to vote for him. The fact that he was a barely discernible blip during the primaries makes me wonder who he would appeal to (dems I guess).

“What a laugh, saying Pence not ready for prime time. No one was more unready for prime time than the community organizer.”

Scarborough was not criticizing Pence’s credentials. To the contrary, he said Pence was and would be an “able leader.”

He meant that Pence in his opinion is not ready for the pressures and glaring spotlight of a national campaign. Yes, Obama was unqualified, but he was glib and rarely stumbled during the campaign.

He'd make a GREAT AG 'cause he knows where the bodies are buried! Most of the Democrats in the New Jersey and New York state legislatures would need to move to New Zealand along with Ginsburg.

I’m totally expecting Trump to do something incredibly unexpected tomorrow.

Joe was a low-level FL congressman. How we he know?

Scarborough and MSNBC want Clinton to win the presidency.

Anything Scarborough says is meant to help Clinton win.

I don’t favor Pence or Christie. I am neutral. But this seems like an strong argument for Pence.

Keep in mind that Pres/VP are a team. A lot of people perceive Trump as a bit too spontaneous and unconventional. Pence and his family could be a poster for a typical somewhat ordinary, ideal Midwestern family....the very picture of stability. Besides that, the others under consideration all have other important roles they'd be perfect for in the Trump administration.

But, it's Trump. I almost expect to be surprised about who wins VP Apprentice.

Folks, this is funny. Trump is doing the VP thing EXACTLY like he did the TV show.

Why? Because they're thoughts leaders:

Is it me or does that phrase thought leader bring commie/fascist images to mind. It seems so Orwellian or something Huxley would have come up with.

At the end of the day, I'm not trying to hate, It is what it is, my bad, I'm just saying, love me a to have a thought leader.

I’m not convinced that Joe doesn’t have an agenda he’s trying (continuously) to promote.

As for Christie, there has to be something or some job he can perform. It has been said that Christie is like a Trump with manners, which I got a chuckle out of. What happened to other possible
ex-military, female, seated member of Congress (at el)?

I just don't think it's a very good idea to have both candidates from neighboring states. Besides, as you said, Christie really doesn't bring much to the table. He'd be ok as AG, though.

So true. It seems a bunch of our fellow Freepers are still going down the path of using conventional wisdom to figure out Trump. Expect the unconventional Donald Trump to not follow the norm on anything.

I would love to see a surprise tomorrow as well.
At this point, I am hoping for Pence to be chosen.
We need to remember how chummy Christie got with Obama in the wake of Super Storm Sandy. Christie may be alright as AG where he can pursue action against Killary!!
Newt would be Okay as Chief of Staff but I personally don’t trust him to not go rogue and set about establishing something of a shadow presidency to suit his own agenda.

Never, ever, listen to the media’s advice on policy, candidates, or VP picks...they work for the opposition.
