Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s campaign spent thousands on luxury hotels last year despite her team’s claim it runs “a tight ship” and stays in “affordable” lodging. According to Haley’s third-quarter disbursements filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), her campaign spent over $11,000 on high-end, four- and five-star hotels. That included stays at The Breakers, a luxurious hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, and the Wave Resort in Long Branch, New Jersey. GOP presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Saturday that he'd consider Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds as a potential running mate if he wins the Republican nomination. She appears to have other plans. But Reynolds demurred when asked in an interview Monday morning on Fox News if she'd accept the offer. "I am so focused," she told Fox News' Ainsley Earhardt. Former President Trump won the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) straw poll on Saturday as the preferred 2024 GOP presidential nominee and former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake won as the vice presidential choice of CPAC attendees. Over 2,000 votes were cast and Trump won with 62% while Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis earned 20%. DeSantis also came in second as the vice presidential pick with 14% compared to 20% for Lake.
