I think within the next decade maybe sooner we'll see a variant of Warsaw Pact reborn with Russia likely Putin as their figurehead. That would also greatly enhance their manpower and defense production capabilities. China is already on the move trying to grab regional territory in the south China sea. The big question in my mind is how much will M.E. nations pay to buy itself a foreign military namely Russia? Meaning funding problem solved for a build up.

Russian invasion has killed at least 7000 Ukrainians. It is like a Nice massacre every week for them for the past two years. Former captive nations know what Russians are like and there is no way of them willingly joining any pact with Russians.
