This is a favor Obama is doing for Erdogan. Obama is preventing any of Erdogan’s enemies from escaping to the US.
As an aside, why is it OK for Obama to ban any flights from Turkey, yet he claims it wouldn’t be ‘american’ if we banned undocumented/unvetted jihadi terrorists from flying in to the US ?
Maybe it’s still not settled down yet. I’m sure a lot of Turkish-American people are checking facebook for family member status, if even that is operating. Cell phones maybe.

There was an earlier thread claiming that the airmen were essentially being held hostage. The admin pulled the thread due to profanity. The poster did not repost. If this is true, this is really HUGE!
Worse yet Obama has remained silent while Erdogan holds our men and women hostage in Incirlik Air Base as a tool for hampering the United States.
It is unfortunate that the Military Coup didn’t prevail as it is certain that Erdogan will continue and massively speed up his drive to more Islamification of Turkey.
It looks like there are several competing narratives about Turkey.
Just to review:
(1) The US airbase has had power cut and the airmen are de factor hostages of Erdogan, while the administration tries to cover it up.
(2) The US and other foreign countries instigated the coup against Erdogan, while the administration tries to cover it up.
(3) Erdogan instituted the coup as a false flag to strengthen his hold on Turkey, while the administration tries to cover it up.

The one thing we can be certain of—whatever the White House says they are lying.
