NO SIGN OF TRUMP ENDORSEMENT, BUT PLENTY OF CRUZ AMBITION

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Sen. Ted Cruz's Texas-size political ambitions will be on full display Wednesday as the primary runner-up delivers a prime-time convention speech, but holds off on a full-throated endorsement of Republican nominee Donald Trump.

The conservative senator repeatedly clashed with Trump during a bitter primary fight, with the New York businessman mocking the lawmaker as "Lyin' Ted." With an eye toward 2020, Cruz's team drafted a convention speech focusing on adherence to the Constitution, a calling card for conservatives and a perceived contrast with Trump.

Cruz has not endorsed Trump despite pleas for party unity from the campaign and party officials. Nor is he expected to in his speech, which was carefully screened by Trump campaign officials, the senator's aides said.

Oh, and since you were kind enough to provide me with the link from artiacle with the one sentence quote from Trump 2 weeks ago 7/7, I wanted to share a link with you...

I just watched the entire 20-minute speech that Cruz gave to his supporters today, 7/20. He said nothing about uniting behind the Nominee not even a mention of his name even whenf Trump’s plane flew by (and his supporters booed and Cruz laughed)...he only spoke about uniting behind shared principles of liberty and that everyone is obliged to follow their conscience...How easy it would have been to insert supporting the nominee as it is time to honor his pledge and get behind the nominee...but he did not. When his supporters were shouting 2020, how unifying it could have been had he said, folks we have to get thru 2016 first and support the nominee, but he did not.

Again, no public indication, I sure hope your information is better than mine.

GDP growth = strong military in the long-term

Moving manufacturing capacity out-of-country = GDP shrinkage.

I say shout him down with "We want Trump!"

If Cruz's foolish pride and wounded ego won't let him endorse the nominee of our party, then he has no business at the podium of this convention. Screw him!

By the way, for those with short or selective
memories, it was Cruz who ATTACKED Trump FIRST at that private fundraiser. They don’t call him LYIN’ TED for nothing.

You confuse realism and pessimism with negativity.

Or perhaps I do not communicate well.

Grandpa Munster demands a forceful apology for comparing him to Lyin’ Teddy ;-)

Cruz said last week he would endorse Trump, and nothing has changed. Tonight he will do so just as Reagan did. If trump loses to Hillary, Cruz will be back in 2000, but I believe Trump will win in a landslide.

I had not heard that he said last week he would endorse Trump. Do you have link or can you recall where you read this?

“Of course the Associated Press is going to want to paint Cruz as a bad guy. We FReepers shouldn’t be so quick to glom onto the MSM’s negative portrayals of this proven conservative senator.”

Cruz is dead to me. That was sheer childishness to mention the wall, immigration, trade, the police....all things and more that he shares positions with trump on.

And then not to encourage people to vote for Trump over Clinton...not even focusing on Cruz’s failure to endorse....but not encouraging to vote for Trump is immature, petty, and defeatist.

Cruz is not worthy to lead this nation. Now we know.

He did not mention Trump by name, but he implied that people should vote for Trump over Hillary. That is clear if you listened to his speech.

I hung on every word. He did not tell people to vote for Trump over Clinton. A convention is no place to tell people to read between the lines. Cruz is stunted emotionally.

Thankfully I didn’t watch it. I was busy doing a virtual cycling tour of San Diego on my stationary bike via You Tube. It’s like going somewhere while going nowhere. Kinda Like Cruz’s career.

It takes a real asshole to be invited to a political party’s convention to make a speech and tell the attendees they should vote for the other party.

Listen bud, I watched the whole thing. He can turn a phrase. He had them in his hand. All he had to do was be the bigger man.

In my part of the world, we say “he stepped on his d*ck.” He blew it.

He is as done as can be. He will be working for Goldman Sachs by six months past his Senate term.

I voted for the guy.

Show me one case in history when a nation moved its manufacturing capacity out of the country and its GDP dropped.

I can't agree with you more.

What a total loser.

I can't believe I once supported him, I'd say he was a total @sshole, but I might be banned.

Actually, I think JR would break his own rules for this.
