The homeowner has been convicted of “excessive self-defense and attempted manslaughter,” Helsinki news reports. He will serve an unconditional sentence for four years and two months, which he has to spend in prison. The man also has to pay damages to his attackers, with the fine totaling €21,000 (US$23,000). The newspaper does not provide information on the severity of injuries sustained by the home-invaders, however, it is known that they survived the event.

Probably when we started paying nearly all their defense costs against Soviet Russia and they could pour ALL their national wealth into vast government funded cradle to grave social programs which eroded their self determination and virility (can I still use that word ?) and made them willing serfs to the state. Three attackers armed with a gun and a baseball bat. Homeowner defended himself with a kitchen knife. Homeowner gets 4 years in prison and a large fine. The attackers? 1.5 years PROBATION and a small 3k fine for damages.
I would not live in a country like that.
TO BE FAIR... the Scandinavian countries have a long history of being comprised of peaceful peaceniks. The USA did not have such a luxury. A practice like this might have been okay for the old Finland. It’s a big problem for the new one, with many strangers, with zero respect for Scandinavian self restraint, overrunning it.

I thought an essential part of manslaughter was, specifically, lack of intent. Therefore, you can't "attempt" manslaughter.
They are a scandal to Scandinavia.
