My Opinion of Trump’s Convention Speech
Dilbert.com ^ | 7/22/2016 | Scott Adams

Posted on 07/22/2016 7:56:06 AM PDT by GilGil

...This speech introduced no new outrages, and voters are starting to get used to the old ones. So on a strategic level, it was a strong performance. If Trump does more of this, and adds no new outrages, he’ll glide to a comfortable victory.

Persuasion-wise, Trump’s family was the big story of the convention. People seem to love them in the same way the public loved the Kennedys. And notice how Donald Jr. and Eric both have the speaking cadence of John and Jack Kennedy. Notice also how Melania reminds you of Jackie Kennedy – quiet, smart, and classy. These are coincidences, but your irrational brain doesn’t care. It sees a new batch of Kennedys and wants to see more of them.

There is absolutely NO comparison between the Trumps and the Kennedys. I seriously doubt that a widowed Melania would prostitute herself out to an ugly toad of a man no matter how wealthy. Neither Eric nor Don, Jr. would have screaming matches with his spouse in public. And I haven’t heard a single “ya know” out of Ivanka.

I have rarely been as moved by a speech as I was by Donald Trump’s speech last night. The truth of what he was saying shone forth. Only a out and out liar, like the writers at the NYT, would call that speech “dark.”
Hillary Clinton and her record ARE pitch black dark.

Because of social media the MSM are largely irrelevant.

In looks she is much prettier than Jackie, very smart and her accent is like the Gabors. Classy lady. SHE knows how to dress. It is refreshing.

I am glad he did a final speech on Cruz. I guarantee he won’t mutter Cruz again but a conclusion was necessary and he did it well.

I agree on Pence. I trusted all along that Trump would make a perfect choice for VP and he did. They complement each other very well.

Dilbert (Scott Adams) is running the most intelligent political commentary of the season here.

Bite it, WSJ.

I think because trump spoke today and it was awesome, she may wait till tomorrow to announce. She will need media’s full attention. She is not a media grabber like trump. She is a bore and everyone including the media knows this.

He doesn’t need to run...... he needs to tend to business. Politics might be for much later.

Not to mention: “Would you prefer seeing Bill and Hillary Clinton decompose in front of your eyes for eight years, or watch the Trump family develop their dynasty?”

This particular blog doesn’t indicate that?

Scott Adams (the creator of Dilbert) doesn't vote. Of his characters, I only know of Dilbert himself voting straight party ticket (no indication of which party). Adams begs off of voting on the basis that he isn't qualified to make a decision of this sort. He also officially be supporting Hillary Clinton because he is in California, and it is just safer that way.

Adams' frequent writing on Trump is more a reflection of his admiration of Trump as a "Master Persuader". Adams considers himself a trained hypnotist (I don't know his credentials) and decent persuader, but that Trump is in a class of his own. He has called for big Trump wins since August of last year or so, and likes being right.

Dilbert (Scott Adams) is running the most intelligent political commentary of the season here.

He pegged Trump as the next President last August, while the smart people all laughed at the idea.

Trump doesn’t drink and he’s not a bootlegger, stockmarket fixer’s son.

I just wish he had mentioned the constitution after rules and law.

Drive By Media waiting for Hildabeast to announce her VP Flunkey so it drains the air out of Trump’s ratings.

She and the Democrats are jumping on the anti-police bandwagon so she can't claim to be a "Law and Order Candidate".

Keep it up Hildebeast.

I worked closely for a year or two with a young man from New York

the Trump boys have the speaking cadence of New York Business men in my view.

“These are coincidences, but your irrational brain doesn’t care. It sees a new batch of Kennedys and wants to see more of them.”

Notice how Eric’s new haircut makes him look like a Kennedy. Just sayin’.

Of course, in terms of his (and the rest of the family’s) morals, there’s a world of difference. The Kennedys got rich because Joe was a bootlegger and a stock manipulator - not to mention a Nazi sympathizer - whereas Trump made his money the old fashioned way - he worked his ass off for it, took a lot of big but intelligent risks, and built a brand. His kids are not only following in his footsteps, but they are NOT a bunch of drugged-up playboys that have to have the press and/or courts cover up their abuse of others.

IOW, its all about appearance - so if the Trumps remind people in a positive way about the Kennedys, fine by me - it’ll get the votes of a few hundred thousand morons, but a vote is a vote.
