“I read that at least one “activist” said that the cop killings had sent the Black Lies Matter bunch pretty much into hiding.”

Ironic, isn’t it. They demanded that cops get killed - they got their dream, and now they’re hiding! Teaches them a lesson.

Posted by somebody who’s clearly never been here in the Summer. It’s our winters everybody bitches about ... unless they’ve lived in Chicago, Buffalo, Boston, Milwaukee, Madison, or Minneapolis. This week we’re celebrating an enormously successful national convention, our police and armed citizens collaborating to defang and subdue those who threatened it, and all the usual joys of Summer. Like my wife and kids from our church did yesterday spending the day at one of the countless public tree shaded fresh water swimming venues we have here. Only open in Summer.

“Yes, the media hyped this like the vultures they are. However, I think many of us were surprised there were not more protestors and chaos at the convention. I think those who funded these fauxtest realized it was backfiring.

Given the emotion going into the last month it appeared to be building even discounting the media narrative. I think the Cleveland police did a good job and they deserve credit, but I also think the sniper and ambush attacks on police, as well as the Jihadist attacks in Europe, took a lot of the emotion out of it for those with anarchist tendencies. It’s one thing to chant something stupid in a march, but it’s another to see it put into action.

The Clintons pandering to these groups has been ineffective because there are a sizable number of people - even in the inner cities - who are questioning things. It appears that the liberal ideology of group politics, seen as the future power base of the democratic party, is failing under its own weight (finally). The unions can’t support unchecked immigration and cheap labor or a radical environmental agenda that kills jobs. The LGBT community can’t support massive immigration from Muslim nations. A large number of people in the inner-city are turned off by attacks on the police and they want law and order (remember, they live there). Much of the African-American community does not support the LGBT agenda nor do they support immigration from Mexico because it hurts them the most. The radical left can’t help themselves.... they always think their time has come and they go too far, but their coalition of grievance groups looks like anything other than a melting pot right now.

Hillary does not connect with minority communities or the socialist left. That is the base. We hear a lot about Trump having problems with his base, but they are mild compared to her problems.

Trump’s tact towards populism, nationalism, trying something new, and law and order is winning. Hillary’s stale and tired tact of grievance politics, her questionable record and lack of achievement, and her pander bear routine combined with the stench of corruption surrounding her is killing her. The DNC insiders have to be in a full blown panic even if the media does not discuss it often.

Every election the media makes it look like the GOP nominee is owned by the wealthy. Who looks like they are tied to Goldman Sachs now? The “I’m with her” candidate or the independent “I am with you” candidate?

We may be in for a major surprise in November. The irony of this election so far is quite enjoyable.”

“To her credit, she watched a lot of the Repubs convention, although she was watching on PMSNBC (yeah, she’s one of their few dozen remaining viewers). “

Actually PMSNBC did very well through the Primary season, once Fox went into fully Kelly-mode on Trump. Almost as though PMSNBC wanted Trump to win the nomination, as way of assuring a Democrat victory in November.

...I’d sure like to be a fly on the wall in their board room now!

I was in Cleveland the whole week. Small group of folks in the city square. There was a vendor selling Trump gear 100 feet way from the demonstrators. No one was even bothering him. The Westboro Baptist folks were there making more noise than BLM.

“...They’ll make up for it at the Dem Convention...”

Which is fine; it’s where they belong. Crack open a few cold ones, a bag of popcorn, and watch the freakshow.

The only sad thing is Frank Rizzo isn’t Mayor...

We should protest hitlery’s convention. But with more class. And more effectively.

Protesting can be very effective. But its a numbers game. In this case (and don’t tell the leftscum this), fewer is better. And more spread out is far better. You get the same amount of coverage whether you have 3 people or 3000 in one place. So maximize your resources. Maximize eyeballs and spreeeaaaad out at multiple locations.

Oh ho ho, are you going to be surprised!

The leftists didn’t do much at the RNC because they had no stake in the outcome. But the DNC is their party... blatantly top-to-bottom rigged against the left by the in-control corporatist wing of that party.

The DNC will host a full-fledged battle, and coverage will be everywhere because chaos on that scale will be impossible to hide.

Remember, Bernie Sanders is the legitimate winner of the Democratic nomination, and they all know it! And they get to watch as their hero gets shoved aside by the Clinton machine... do you think they will let the moment pass quietly?

It’s going to be epic, so prepare popcorn now.

You are too kind. I don’t have all the answers, but I certainly enjoy the discussion and debate.

I’ve not been a fan of Reince Priebus (I call him Prince Ream-us), but have to give the RNC credit for this one. They did a great job of security, especially given the fact that the mayor of Cleveland basically said the local police weren’t going to protect the RNC. That was money well spent, and here’s hoping the opposite is true for the DNC.

I expect the media to put on some sheets and Hillary to send a van for David Duke. Maybe one of those Mark Potok videos where people see militias growing behind trees in Michigan can be found.

Cleveland's mayor implied that? This I missed.

I did hear that the Westboro Baptists got into a scuffle with somebody.

You don’t understand the term “personalizing the enemy”, which is Alinsky 101 but exists far beyond the varied Alinsky protests.

In the 60s and 70s there were far more people and far more protests that were housing related than that were war related. These house protests personalized an specific individual and made him the “Satan”.

They included small fry slumlords, big name slumlords who were also chair of the Housing Authority. They included Judges in Housing court and Prosecuting attorneys and City Planners and Mayors like Mayor Daley.

Hillary herself built ACORN, not on the war, but on housing related issues, especially mortgage red-lining by banks.

Most Vietnam War protestors rejected Alinsky and his tactics.

I attended many Chicago and nationwide Alinsky training seessions and know of what I write.

Soros said to the organizers

Since Soros is the one funding these idiots, yeah, he can tell them when and where he wants them to protest.

The media would eat that up and never notice that these protesters come from Cambridge, MA, Madison, WI and Seattle, WA.

Protester in Seattle smoking weed and watching DNC: "Was that today?"

We hear a lot about Trump having problems with his base

Trump may have problems with the GOPe's base, but he is creating a whole new base now. Hopefully it will be big enough to win the election in November.
