I'm on the Sunset Limited today in the Audubon Room. It's 1956. I'm going from Los Angeles, CA to New Orleans, Louisiana.

Guess what, Hillary? Nothing wrong with us going back to these times when America was everything to its people and to people around the world. People worked, families stayed together, and we kept our doors unlocked. I was just a wee lad, but I remember those times very very well.

Notice the ties? Looks like the one guy is sipping a cabernet and lighting the lady's cigarette. Maitre de and the porter in the background.

Look at the menu! Read the fine print at the bottom. Looks like this was served Jaunary to April 1956.

Very simply prepared food. “Fluffy steamed rice with prunes and cream: 45 cents” I love it!

I've always loved trains. My husbands sister was a Zephyrette on the California Zephyr. She traveled from the San Francisco Bay Area to Chicago. It would be nice if train travel could return to those days of safe and grand travel.

Please take note another thing that is striking about this 1956 Train Menu: the PRICES.

This should be a stark reminder of just how much America’s money has been devalued.

Most of us don’t realize that currency devaluation is a stealth tax, robbing America’s citizens of their wealth, and putting them in the poor condition we find ourselves in today.

Looking back at the high quality of life displayed in this picture is very nice, and bittersweet at the same time.
