The media and Dems are jumping on what Trump said as a shiny object to distract.
Trump’s comment was Rules #5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.
Dems and Media will try to pick apart everything Trump says between now and the election.
Recall how they did similar with Palin’s ‘I can see Russia’ comment in 2008.
This is much ado about nothing. To bad Rush and other talkshow hosts are giving this so much attention. The proper response should be: ‘It was a joke. Get over it. Move on.’
Rush agrees with me that Soros called off the dogs. Why? Because a riot would have solidified a Trump victory, that’s why!

Say what you will about Ann Coulter, she does have a way with words.
Haven’t seen it. But his previous film, “America, Where Would the World Be without Her” was a disappointing incoherent mess. He needs to partner with someone who knows how to make a film. He doesn’t. He’s gotten big Conservative press merely on the strength of the subject matter. It’s frustrating that people with true artistic chops are in such short supply on the Right.
Francis had been a foreign policy analyst at Heritage Foundation. He was legislative assistant for Senator John East of N.C., a protege of Jesse Helms. As if this current crop even remembers the great Jesse Helms, I suppose. Francis wrote studies on Palestinian terrorism the threat to America posed by illegal immigration as early as the 1980s. He could see problems arising long before most of us.
But Francis also held views on race that would have been identical to that of National Review in its heyday, which didn't match the progressive ideology of a good 1995 neocon like Dinesh. So Dinesh published a piece that got Francis fired from his job at The Washington Times. Of course the credit/blame isn't D'Souza's alone but he was certainly the instigator when he wrote this:
"A lively controversialist, Francis began with some largely valid complaints about how the Southern heritage is demonized in mainstream culture. He went on, however, to attack the liberal principles of humanism and universalism for facilitating "the war against the white race." At one point he described country music megastar Garth Brooks as "repulsive" because "he has that stupid universalist song, in which we all intermarry." His fellow whites, he insisted, must "reassert our identity and our solidarity, and we must do so in explicitly racial terms through the articulation of a racial consciousness as whites... The civilization that we as whites created in Europe and America could not have developed apart from the genetic endowments of the creating people, nor is there any reason to believe that the civilization can be successfully transmitted to a different people."
There's collections of Francis' writings on the internet. Much of it reads like it could have been written today. I suspect he will still be read with appreciation when D'Souza returns to the obscurity that he richly deserves.

Do you mean to tie these two phrases together? Which themes are you referring to that are now fueling Trump’s campaign.
I was a reader of National Review in its heyday. I know it published a discussion of Charles Murray’s controversial studies on race. But I’m not sure National Review could be said to have held its own distinctive view on race per se that would be identical to that of any of its contributors.

No, they are two separate aspects of Francis’ writing. The themes that anticipated Trump are ones that Francis was writing about during the Buchanan campaigns and which we can see echos of in Trump. Concerns about the economic marginalization of the American middle class by globalization, the impact on middle America by mass immigration, legal and illegal. ‘Populist’ issues that the GOPe elites denounced and demonized, proving even then how out of touch and dismissive they were of real concerns of little people. Francis’ views on race and culture are something else and reflect National Review’s writing during the civil rights controversies of the mid to late 60s, long before Charles Murray’s milder writing a decade or so later. Today’s conservatives sound exactly like good LBJ/Hubert Humphrey liberals from that era and would be clutching their pearls in horror over what their conservative forebears routinely expressed. A good deal of that probably comes from neoconservatives trying to make conservatism conform to their politically correct ideology.
