I dont believe ANY foreign Govt hacked into the DNC emails..how would they have known what the emails contain or if it was anything damaging in there..I think the hack came from INSIDE the DNC..a Bernie Sanders supporter who knew they were being screwed over decided to give this info over to Wikileaks..My theory is that DNC staffer, the one who was murdered, he is the one that gave it to Wikileaks because he knew he was going to get offed by the Clintons

He could easily have had the computer equivalent of a dead man’s switch - i.e. a server that automatically sent the info to someone (Wikileaks) if he didn’t log in and type in a specific code to restart the countdown to release. By offing him, the DNC ensured that the info would come out (not that they knew, of course - but this guy was a LOT smarter than them).

I think you’re exactly right. It was a leak from the inside. It doesn’t just target Hillary, it targets the DNC and their corrupt duplicity. It was an inside job.
